Best Rock Station in CT??

95.9 the fox and 99.1 PLR are boring at best..same ol 250 focus group tested songs. PLR throws in the occasional new track, but even that's predictible. I feel like calling them and saying Bruce Springsteen has more than one song in his repetoir!!!! Unlistenable on a regular basis...sure I flip the radio dial in the car to them once in awhile, but that's about it.  Can't get any of the Hartford sigs here in Fairfield. NYC rock 104.3 is just as bland and boring.

q-104.3 Are you kidding me!!! they can really kick some ass sometimes.
now
q 104.3 HD-2 is even better
they play their entire library of classic rock. its like saying a no repeat work week!

I dont have HD radio along with 99% of the population so no idea there...agree that the Q is better than the Fox and PLR, but not alot but unless there are doing a special A-Z weekend or something, it's pretty much those 250 favorites plus a few more.

This is Clarkes' 1st gig

He should be careful when he tries to ad-lib &/or read copy.

He sometimes makes mistakes.

He works 6-10p.

What does he do the rest of the day?

JC has been in radio for roughly 20 years.

Caveman is right Jim's been in radio for a long time. He was a part of i95 in the 80s I believe? He did weekends for a long time before doing the weekday night show. This is FAR from his "1st gig". I love the, "he makes mistakes sometimes"...who doesnt?? I sure as hell do. I honestly enjoy his show because it brings out his personality and not liner cards. That is all.

This is still his 1st real gig, as it's the only station (besides college) he's worked at, on & off. Check i95rocks.com to see when he worked there.

After all this time, you'd think he'd stop making mistakes by now.

I hear him making mistakes every time I hear him.

I know him personally - went to college & worked w/him.

Hey amfm:

You must have your own radio show somewhere as you seem to like critiquing the work of jocks on this board. What station are you on so others can listen and learn from you?

If this is his "1st real gig" why would you follow it up with "after all this time"?!

Make up your mind...and where do you do flawless radio, oh guru of the airwaves?

Jim Clarke has only had one gig (that means working @one station) on & off for the past 25 yrs. - & that's @I-95.

After "all this time", 25 yrs., you'd think he'd tried harder to stop making mistakes ad-libbing.

He should just read the copy.

Why doesn't PD Tim Sheehan reinforce this?

Never said I'm the guru of the airwaves, & never said I do flawless radio.

But you, Caveman, think it's alright to make mistakes, as you said you "sure as hell do".

You said he "brings out his personality & not liner cards".

His job is to read liner cards, & maybe ad-lib within them, sticking to the subject at hand, not making mistakes when he tries to ad-lib.

He should pre-read the card, & write down what he's going to say, to sound smooth.

Remember, when you cut a piece of wood, you should measure twice, cut once.

The microphone is like a lethal weapon.

When you crack it, you only have one chance.

Maybe he should voicetrack instead.

Radio is a beautiful art, & I am a perfectionist.

If you are a "perfectionist" at least quote the correct person, because I didn't say those things!

So when/where is your show on...I can't wait to hear you.

Hi Paul. Or is it Jack? Tim Sheehan here. I encourage all my jocks to bring their personality into their show and not to just read the liner cards. In fact, the first thing I tell a new jock is NOT to read the liner cards verbatim. We could voicetrack it and get everything perfect every time, but that would take a little of the soul out of it, dontcha think?

Jim has indeed worked here a couple of different times. He gets great numbers, and listeners really respond to his unique sense of humor, so we keep asking him back.

Take care,
Tim

Apparently that is the real reason Dumbya sent US troops into Iraq...SH was rumored to have thousands of "lethal" microphones buried in the desert!

"NYC rock 104.3 is just as bland and boring."

CTNYRADIO, I want to hear what kind of classic rock station you would put together because Q104.3 is THE BEST classic rock station in the tri-state area!!! They play plenty of deep classics and even throw some newer tracks on..
