Will Audacy admit it made a mistalke? Look at the WROQ decline since February. They shoulda stuck with Classic Rock. They were at 3.7 in Feb and down to 2.4 for May. Heck, K-Love beat them in May.
agree. appears audacy gave up more shares than they gained to iheart. this launch is similar to the 93.3 country attempt in the 90s proving the market couldn't support 3 country stations. a couple of years later we got the planet which was new and fresh at the time. It’s 6 months in and the most they’ve done is bring WSSL down, but that’s still given iHeart a win because a lot of the classic rock listeners went to WMYI.
Bring back Magic! 🙂 They always have that option since one of their HD channels continues to identify with the "Magic" moniker.I expect Audacy will stay the course with country on 101.1 for at least another year. Give it a full year to see how it goes. It’s likely cheap to operate, country is a hot format for radio right now, and there aren’t really any better options for the signal at this point.
If I were Audacy and wanted to try damage control against the gift they’ve given to iHeart with WMYI, I’d consider adding more well tested 70s and 80s classic rock staples WROQ played that are part of WMYI’s playlist to The Planet.
It is misleading to not consider WTPT's numbers in the equation. The overall share commanded by Audacy's full cluster of stations is what matters. Results in A18-49, A25-54 or some subsegment thereof is much more important than 12+ AQH Share. Will Audacy admit it made a mistalke? Look at the WROQ decline since February.
