Big News On JP Peterson And Dan Sileo

As per my sources JP Peterson was given his walking papers either Thursday or Friday. He will be on air for two more weeks at the most. This is surprising as he was the best host 1010 AM had. That's not saying much. They should have axed the Mike Pepper morning show and Justin's show. It sounds like with Pepper as the PD and still morning host the new FM sports station is going to be a train wreck.

Dan Sileo's new gig in Miami is a disaster. From claiming to have the highest ratings in sports talk radio (total B.S) he's falling flat on his face. He's getting terrible ratings. No they right term would be, pathetic ratings. In the April and May books he scored anywhere from a 1.1 to a 1.4 while his competitor at 790 The Ticket scored anywhere from a 4-2 to 4.7. His ratings are crumbling by the week. He started out with low 2's and high 1's but now is struggling big time. A few people wanted to hear him at first out of curiousity. They obviously aren't buying his schtick at all. It's obvious that any host in Tampa that does sports talk would fall flat if they went to a top market. The only reason anyone on 620 WDAE gets any ratings is they have zero, let me repeat that ZERO competition. Sileo is going to be very lucky to last a year in Miami and my best guess is he's cut lose by January.

There is absolutely no way that the current morning show on 1010 moves over to 98.7. If it does this whole experiment will fail. Time to take that show out back and put it down once and for all.

Say what you want about Sileo...but remember....

Randy Michael's said he was the "Best Sports Talk Show Host in America".....and he will remind you of this if you forget....

AND....

According to his Wikipedia page:

" It was believed that Sileo spent the summer riding with the gangster biker gang the "Hells Angels" chapter of Bridgeport, CT.[citation needed] He then went to the University of Miami Hurricanes, "
The dreaded Hells Angels of BRIDGEPORT !!!!

I believe the Randy Michael's quote more. By the way....Jerry Petuck also road with the Hells Angels..biker name "Pookie"

Isn't it customary for a DJ to get walking papers and not go on the air again? Why would they give him walking papers and allow him to be on air for even a day?

It really is going to be intriguing to see what 98.7 goes with. 620 is the 800 pound gorilla, but if there's anything I've learned in nearly 30 years in this market it's that anybody can be taken down. CBS obviously sees an opportunity. Whether they are right that there is an opportunity and whether they can exploit it, well, as Gordon Solie used to say with that arched eyebrow, that remains to be seen. Hopefully, we as listeners will benefit.

Sileo got a chance here in Miami because there are 4 full time sports stations desperate for hot air and not nearly enough talent to go around. His UM ties, the fact that he was on here for a little while before, and the implosion of Sid Rosenberg created this opportunity. That said, I've heard better, and I've heard worse.
Randy Michaels' comments on him are interesting, considering Michaels' affinity for Bubba the Love Sponge, and BTLS' disdain for Sileo.

Even Ron and Ian get good ratings on WDAE and that show is TERRIBLE. You could put farm animals on WDAE 620 and they would get good ratings. Dan Sileo moved to a competitive market and is getting crushed. He's on the verge of dropping below at 1.0. In the radio business in a big market that's suicidal. He's not going to last more than a year. The handwriting is on the wall. Why is he getting such poor ratings? Because he's flat out not any good. He doesn't understand basketball or baseball for one. His schtick isn't good. He's not eductated. He's a pathological liar. He's fallen down and can't get up in Miami.

Say what you want about Sileo. I can't stand the guy either.... but I'm supposed to believe a new user that has 2 total posts and has done nothing but bash the guy? Come on. The guy has barely been on the air in South Florida. Way too soon to judge. Gotta give the guy at least through football season.

;D Sorry, "commish", it was tried as 620 was a simulcast of CNN Headline.

It tanked.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

Who in their right mind gave Sileo another chance?

Give me a f'in break, the guy is a worthless hack. Miami can have him.

JP losing his brokered show is a head scratcher, what the hell are they going to fill that almost dead air time with now?

Mike Pepper's ineptitude is really showing through

The FM is going to simulcast on the AM until January, when CBS debuts a national sports talk network which 1010 will carry 24/7. No one locally is likely to have had anything to do with the decision.

JP was finally shown the door. Is Justin Pawlowski gone, too?

No. Pawlowski is going to be on from 10-2pm, likely with Gary Shelton. That show will be difficult to listen to. They'll have to load it up with 6 interviews a day, especially after football season.
