BIG NEWS RE: Walton and Johnson

Hey tikibird...first get a life...then get a new info source. W&J asked to be released from Cumulus a few months ago... the resulting negotiations produced a new multi year contract for Houston(at thier insistance...they wanted one year)..the addition of Dallas and several others to be named after Jan... the act is so tired they have just signed Shreveport, Memphis, Austin and new numbers show big rebound to #1 15-54 non ethnic with new significant trend increases in Dallas plus #1's in several other markets.[EDIT]

[EDIT-inflammatory]

Nice spin on the numbers. First, I couldn't care less about W&J. I don't listen because I don't like tired sounding radio... and to me, they are way tired. Their show is essentially a rip and read Complete Sheet, no effort show. But let's look at the numbers.

Persons 25 - 54
#9 overall
#6 non ethnic

Persons 18 - 34
#12 overall
#5 non ethnic

That spin on the numbers sounds good, but when you really look at them they are doing quite bad. If you put W&J in the context of KIOL, they look like rock stars because they are in the only daypart that performs. If they got a new contract, good for them. I want everyone in this business to get whatever they can. But in no way are they winning, or even almost winning in Houston. In small markets where there is a lack of pay to get real talent, they win because no matter how tired they are or sound, they still sound better than the morning guy who's making 30 grand a year and when he gets off the air has to put on a tie and go sell advertising, then comes back to the station because he is also the engineer in market nothing. I think they blow, but more power to them. Perhaps in Dallas they had a good trend... but until you can line up 4 good trends in a row... one good trend doth not a good book make.

Hey Tookie...what are you smoking...I want some. Do you even have a job. Or do you just log on this site make up these wild predictions (how many have come true ?)

Rex,

I can't believe, huh make that I CAN believe Cumulus would go for a load of Horse-------. That's an old ploy to get management thinking they're so in demand.

I just called a friend of mine in Dallas that works at Cumulus. W&J numbers 25-54 were DOWN: .9-.4 That's PATHETIC!

I think you are the one smoking something.

"Effort is like quicksand. Most laughfest idiot shows on the air today "produce" enough poorly written bits to sink in a hurry. When your segment is out performing your radio station that is the only measure of success. Anybody can continue the good numbers on station that does well all day. This is especially difficult when you are trying to compete in Houston with a Beaumont signal. In Dallas it has only been 5 months since they hit the air on station that had just changed formats and had no cume...starting with nothing in other words. Love to see the resume you annon morons.

Rex, I pose this question. If you are out performing the rest of the station, but still not even a player in the market when put up against other stations... are you still a winner?

Everyone I know except one person is either unaware the show exists or simply cannot stand it.
Like it or not, here's why:
They detest the political viewpoints repeated like the Minister of Propaganda actually has the gun pointed to your heads. Many feel as if you are actually talking down to them and they resent that.
They detest your ramblings about the war (good or bad). More than a few have kids over there and have formed their own strong opinions that might not be aligned with yours.

w&j still suck

Another signal scapegoat.
Morning shows are expected to outperform other dayparts. Another weak w&j scapegoat, blame Outlaw Dave after running off listeners with politics in the morning.

Well said. Most people are smart enough to see their kneejerk GOP spin.

I still say Syphillis is more popular.

So sayeth Rex.
