Thats what I hear. The liners says
" coming soon --wnuz will change the way you listen to talladega radio--forever!"

hhhhmmmmmm.

this should be intersting.

It will be a great radio battle - one that will shake up that market.

A Jack graveyard AM? Owned by Birmingham Christian Radio?

I have to call shenanigans on this one, Kramer. The "CC to flip a station to AOR" thing was at least somewhat logical and/or possible, and may actually happen, but this . . . it is to laugh.

It was a joke and IS logical AND possible. I think anyway. But its not gonna happen. It was just a rumor. BTW, what would be an AOR's competition? What Hell do guys have to listen to in Birmingham? CERTAINLY not Rock 99 - unless you're older. The X - no one knows they're there.(I'm guessing.) If you don't like Country, what do you HAVE? ERC? Sports? There are so few rock stations in Alabama its pathetic! Ticks me off when I think about it.

People know the X is there, they simulcast for a month and announced the upcoming switch every 5 minutes during the last week or so, the problem was that they couldn't pick it up. They were big in the same north/east fringe areas they cut their signal to. Not really as much of a problem now that they're on Jamz' old tower, though.

Really, a true AOR would have little competition. Probably Rock 99 more so than the X, but mostly it'd be going after the people who've already given up on radio and own Alabama iPods*.

If you don't like Country, what do you HAVE? ERC?

Correction: There are so few rock stations in **central** Alabama it-apostrophe-s pathetic . . . scalawag. :)

Mobile (although the best are actually Pensacola stations), Montgomery, Huntsville, Auburn (although, like Mobile, they're not actually located here), Dothan, and Muscle Shoals all have their fair share.

It's just Tuscaloosa/Birmingham/Anniston/Gadsden where there aren't any at all.

* Alabama iPod: Those enormous multi-disc CD changers that one hooks up to their vehicle's electrical system, plays via a vacant FM frequency, and operates via remote. Admit it, you have one too.

Talladega...market? I thought it was a place to watch NASCAR or stop for a bathroom break between Birmingham and Atlanta.

lol...I heard on the radio that she can't drive that well.

WNUZ AM 1230 Hasn't been on the air in many months as they are having some sort of Chronic transmitter trouble as they so often have for the past several years.

Next time you're in the Anniston/Gadsden area turn on 105.9. This station has been rocking since March. It's also simulcast on 98.3 in Clay County so you can listen all the way from Ft. Payne to Alex City.

You are correct! Everyone is forgetting the new "Rock 105.9/98.3". 105.9 in Centre/Gadsden/Anniston area and 98.3 in Alex city/Lineville/Talledega area. The new websites are up too. www.rock1059.net or www.rock983.net.

Tuscaloosa does need it's own rock station though. They've got classic rock covered fine. No current rock though. Atleast Birmingham has 105.5 the Vulcan.

Well, if you like an all current rock station to listen to in this state you are S.O.L. for the most part. I'm annoyed by the fact that a major monster signal like 101.1-WYDE is being used for AC when the markets it enters already has that format covered like a blanket. Someone else buying it from Crawford and flipping it to modern/alternative rock would solve the lack of current rock problem that others have mention earlier. If that doesn't happen, then what can you really do about it other than complaining about it pointlessly and getting your hopes up when someone has a "Big Rumor" thread going on. I guess you could simply give up on radio altogether like what most young people have done and move on.
