There is no other radio station in America dedicated to the cause of creating awareness for the Vitamin String Quartet than 102.3 in Concord :D. Now please let me hear the stringy version of "Carry On Wayward Son" in peace.. Thanks ;D Even 'freshened' imaging too... Yowzah..

But how different is this really from your average "beautiful music" station 40 years ago playing string versions of "Smoke On The Water" or "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"? As AC stations like WZID or WHOM get harder, there is an audience for this stuff, even though it's most likely just a stunt. Let's see how they do in the fall book...hey, they'll probably beat WKXL.

I'm about 3 for 5 on titles of what they're playing (not that I listen all that much).

Well, 102.3 is only playing music from one group, the 'Vitamin String Quartet'. Kind of like "All Vitamin String Quartet ,All The Time".. Talk about niche' stunting. I have walked into a few businesses around Concord that have actually had 102.3 on with the staff trying to guess the songs in between the customers... Sounds better than static, if there was a violin shop in Concord, they would be all set for a sponsor to help pay part of the light, rent, and the engineer who babysits 102.3. :D

and let's not forget the old radio standard for making decisions..IT'S CHEAP!

I am sure whoever has the checkbook for 102.3, would want to keep it as inexpensively as possible for the time being. Now playing a strung out version of "Time After Time".. How's this for imaging, "We're the station that will 'string' you along.. 102.3 WWHK Concord". ;D

ahh..cheaper in as much as....WHATEVER they played...a laptop with a string of tunes looped in running at the transmittor site...no staff...no studio/office lease....music rights, the electric company....no fuss no hassle.

On a side note, looks like not everyone has a job with Binnie. I was told of at least 3 people will lose their jobs on the closing date, and multiple people in sales have jumped ship. The good news is the people being let go we're given a heads up so they have some time to prepare.

They were given a heads up?

Highly irregular for radio.

Hope all is well for them, shortly.

Agreed. Very irregular but I guess it beats getting canned out of the blue. But, how much more can be cut? Nassau is pretty lean now...unless BB wants to bring in his own people. I wish them the best.

Only format "change" I guess you can say is that 93.9FM will become what is now Oldies 104.3...60's, 70's and when 93.9 makes the change it will include 80s.

Perhaps WBACh Maine will hang for awhile. Jeff Sahpiro gets101.5 Meredith(NH) and 99.1 (Henniker/Concord)goes to Bill Binnie.

They'll change.
