YEAH YOUR RIGHT DJ 05 BMP JUST GAVE CBS A 45 MILLION DOLLAR BAND-AID TO STOP THE BLEEDING!

Half if not most of the airstaff will be let go at KTSA. Air America will likely be simulcast on 550 KTSA and KTXX 103.1.

Whether the call letters return to 102.7 is another story but I say BMP brings Hot to S.A. either on 94.1 or 102.7

Doesn't sound like anyone was blown out the door today from listening to 550...

I think it would be a good idea for BMP to bring a station to San Antonio like HOT 106.1 in Laredo. That station plays both Hip-Hop and Reaggeton. It would be a good comnpetitor for the Beat and it will also play some of the music that La Kalle played.

I know I don't have any programming experience and I will be ticking a couple of people by saying this (sorry to anyone who gets mad), but I think The Beat could be doing a lot better musically. I have heard other stations around Texas (I.E. Beat 104.3, The Box 97.9, and of course Hot 106.1) and these stations seem to have a bigger variety in Hip-Hop and don't sound as boring as, well, The Beat. They also don't seem to play the same Big Hits over and over. I understand The Beat is #1, but that's because it has no direct competitor. If BMP was to launch a Hip Hop station, San Antonio may see The Beat drop in the ratings.

AAh yes the days of Ricky Ware calling Hiapanics "Meskins" on the air (KBUC) Now fatboy Ware is Calling Castro "His kind of guy". :D

Hey Ricky they're gonna string you up on a big bbq pit and slowly roast your fat ass. And for Brad Messer they're gonna attach you to a huge bong and pump dope in you 24 hours a day until you pass out and enter dopeland. ;D

Not yet....Most of the staff will gone or if not take a pay cut. BMP isn't going to pay what CBS Radio was paying. KTSA will be the new home for Air America. No jocks needed except for the top and bottom of the hour news.

Also, there's no way Jack will remain. Both Jack and Jammin compete for the same demos 25-54.

Anyone know if BMP takes control immediately?

Jack is growing, Jammin' is slipping. Jack has zero on-air staff cost, too. I think Jammin' is not long for this market if there's overlap.

I also don't think there's enough audience for Air America to justify putting it on Jack's big stick. You think people in outlying counties are clamoring to listen to Al Franken? I don't.

La Lupe is BMP's Jack. I would look for her debut somewhere on the FM dial. The Digital
plug was nearly pulled for her in San Antonio. They want a network. They also recently
hired a morning show.

I think a totally new Liberal/moderate democrat talk format would do well. Take the Al Frankens off and put some Liberal Rush Limbaugh types on. It may not beat WOAI but certaintly would be unique and with entertaining hosts might pull a 3.0

Border obviously has some sort of tie with Air America. They have done it in other markets, and I'm sure that Air America would "sweeten the pot" if they were to put it on a big frequency in such a big market. We know that Air American, according to reports, has paid to be on in other markets, so why would San Antonio be any different. It's cheap. It's different. It won't beat WOAI, but it would at least be unique. Which is more than they are doing now.

Too bad Entercom or someone else didn't buy them because WOAI is vulnerable and the right owner would have been able to really hurt them.

I went to the Devo/Psychedelic Furs/When in Rome concert last night sponsored by Jammin' 94.1 at the Sunken Gardens.

The Jammin' booth and van were puny and lame compared to the Jack booth and the KTSA SUV that were there.

I don't think the Jack folks had anything to hand out, but they get a pass, since they were probably only invited to this event on Wednesday. The Jammin' crew handed out fans, printed with the Jammin' logo on one side and some sponsor on the other, in one color. (Last time I went to Verizon, KONO 101 handed out 4-color printed fans.) The fact that the Jammin' folks promotional handouts were on the cheap side, and some earlier comments in this thread, definitely make me think that KTSA and Jack are headed for some cost-cutting.

The other thing that didn't impress me about BMP's efforts was the fact that the concert concessions for a 4-hour, 3-act concert consisted of one bar tent. There was no food concession anywhere on the grounds! I went there expecting to eat, and I heard other people grumbling about the lack of food and the long lines at the bar tent. That's not just cheap, that's some poor planning right there.
