I guess she was one of the few people there who didn't miss dinner last night. Something tells me that she and Rick the Stick haven't missed too many meals.Tookiebird said:Hey i'm pissed! Gibby-Jack is growing, Jammin' is slipping. Jack has zero on-air staff cost, too. I think Jammin' is not long for this market if there's overlap.
I also don't think there's enough audience for Air America to justify putting it on Jack's big stick. You think people in outlying counties are clamoring to listen to Al Franken? I don't.
La Lupe is BMP's Jack. I would look for her debut somewhere on the FM dial. The Digital

Jack is growing because of the previous format. There was no where to go but up. BMP believes in the Jammin format. Therefore, it will likely move to 102.7. And Jack or whatever format they decide on will be place on 94.1.

Isn't La Lupe similar to 95.1 KCOR?

I'm not expecting that to happen unless Air America suddenly explodes in popularity or writes a big check. Remember, BMP has to make money with this deal; it will take them approximately 30 years to pay off that $45 million if everything stays the same. I don't know about you, but that seems like a long way off to me. I'm able to retire in 23 years, and they still won't have that $45 million paid off if they stay the course. Air America hasn't proven it can bill anywhere near what KTSA presently bills. Even with the cost savings on talent, it's not likely to net anywhere near the amount of cash needed. BMP knows this, and they're not going to run Air America on principle. They've relegated Air America to their garbage signals pretty much everywhere they run it. Austin has the best signal of BMP's Air America stations, and it's a high AM band stick that only covers around 2/3 of the city and 1/2 of the metro at night.

CBS sold the San Antonio stations at more than 30 times annual revenue.
Several years ago, 102.7 used to be the top biller in S.A. Good job CBS!!

You can stop gloating, Romeo. Hot 92.5's ratings had nothing to do with your station being better, it had to do with their shitty signal licensed to Devine broadcasting at half the power of KBBT and three times the distance. Measure The Beat's ratings from just the city of San Marcos (or anywhere else 45 minutes away the the KBBT transmitter) and that will give you an estimate of how it should be compared to when Hot 92.5 was around. You can look at any format that's been on that frequency and they have all failed. If Hot 92.5's format had been on a city grade signal, The Beat would have definitely suffered because let's face it, KHTY was a better Hip Hop station. And I wouldn't brag about being the one to bring down KTFM 102.7 or any other previously liked station. Unless you want to be given credit for giving your audience one less radio station to listen to forcing them to tune into the same 10 songs you like to play on yours resulting in the public buying more iPods and XM satellite radios which in the end makes the whole FM world suffer (which is exactly what is happening). At least KTFM had the guts to play fresh new songs that weren't tired and tested to death by Consultants and Diaries. It's not all your fault The Beat monopolizes the airwaves though, the FCC just won't alot any more frequencies.
