Bob and the Showgram/G105 Mornings Speculations

1. On Friday's show, they get a memo from their G105 GM Dick Harlow. The memo says they need to meet him immediately after the show upstairs in the conference room.

2. Friday afternoon, a survey about the morning show is sent out to all P1's. Many questions are asked including who they like listening to the least, "Bob, Mike, or Kristin".

Any idea what the deal is? Not trying to cause any problems, just curious if anyone knows what the deal is...
 
As far as I am concerned, Bob Dumas is an embarrasment to the radio world. He is loud and obnoxious. His stunts are usually stupid, childish, and sometimes dangerous..ie Fatman trying to board airplane at RDU airport without boarding pass.

I am glad about choices. I choose not to listen to his rantings, Clear Channel should have chosen to take him off of radio years ago!!

I have to disagree with Stuart but will say the bigger Bob's contract and ego have become, the worse CC's Raleigh cluster has become. I would bet he makes more money than all other jocks there combined and before you jump in and say he's worth it, consider they might be better off with one or two more stations that have better jocks and more promotion. I also wonder how Bob feels seeing all of the ads for JB&B while Kiss is coming right after G's older demos. He must wonder if the competition is actually right there in Smoketree.
 
maybe I'm stuck in the '90s, but I still miss Bob & Madison. they were great together. that was entertaining radio!

I got your deal right here: It's spelled S-T-U-N-T. Any REAL stuff involving management and the morning show isn't going to be talked about on the air. That bit Friday morning was intended to do exactly what you see in this thread--start tongues a-waggin'.
 
I agree with chromiumboy...I'm always suspicious when I see someone initiating such a thread and it's their very first post. Looks like a plant to me.

Nah, I wasn't part of their stunt. I'm legit but also an idiot sometimes. But it was interesting to see everyone's professional take on the show. Something I've always been curious about.
 
my profesional take is that it's god***n amazing that a 50-year-old macho pr*ck can somehow win on a show that appeals to young women on a station that appeals to same. I guess it's a lack of competition or something (see also Murphy, Jack).

Well if you were any kind of "real" professional you would know that he just celebrated his 40TH birthday, not his 50th. And as for bringing Madison back, yes she was a great cohost but at least Kristen is willing to play along and doesnt call in sick all the time. She at least seems to care about her job. again just my $0.02
 
Well I think that since I actually know the guy that I should know his age. But oh well I guess since I am no longer in the "industry" that I should not try and speculate on anything any longer on here. I will refrain from posting for a bit. As a parting shot, I seem to remember some of the ppl on here, during the Oldies 93 flip, that WZTK would be changing formats. Well that hasnt happened yet or am I missing something.

she hasn't landed. maybe she will be running that johnston county beauty pageant she won all those years ago (just give her a couple seconds; she'll tell u ALL about it). btw, i renew my objections to bob dumas being 40 years old. that is b.s. and par for the course regarding the crap he's been selling via his show. don't believe everything you hear on the radio. especially from him.
 
I wonder how many "real professionals" really keep up with Bob Dumas' age?

Maybe it would be a subject on the Age Guessing Game on Two Guys Named Chris, but I can't see much interest past that. ;)

just curious, any news on what is going on with "Madison Lane" is now?
she left G, then went to a more "family oriented" station, which is no more...and finally left there in '04? '05?
and I can't remember exactly where I heard or read about her coming back on air ??? -this was a year or two ago. but I swear, I remember something about her coming back to radio somewhere
 
Madison was the marketing director for a catering/prepared meals outfit over on Durant Road in Raleigh a few months back.
Her name was on all the coupons and ads we got, didn't seem like she was going to go back to radio anytime soon....
