I swear that I heard Bob Bailey on WYAY True Oldies 106.7 last night. Was this really him? I know that WYAY has been increasing their local live airtimes. Bob is very interesting to local Oldies fans because he has worked at all of the past local Oldies outlets that I can think of. He worked at Z 93 years ago when it was Oldies. He was with WFOX Fox 97 for some years and was the permanent replacement for Randy and Spiff when they were sick or went on vacation-which was often. Bob then went to work middays at WLKQ Oldies Lake 102.3 FM. Then, I know that he worked afternoons at the late great Sunny 100 Oldies WNSY FM in Canton. So, I would think that he would be a natural fit for True Oldies 106.7. If this was him, what is his role at the station? He is a great talent and knows his Oldies!

I echo Goodtimes' sentiments. Bob is a sharp guy who did a great job on Z and 96, and he's nice to everyone. And he's not an idiot who would post his own messages.

Actually being a close friend of Bob's, I can tell you THAT'S NOT HIM! He does, however, read this board occasionally. If that was him on WYAY, then they landed a great talent!! There is NONE better, IMHO.

??? No, I am not Bob Bailey. just a long time fan who really thought that I heard him on True Oldies 106.7 last night. My kids were loud in the van, but it really sounded like him. He is a great talent and really knows his Oldies.

I spoke with Bob yesterday after reading this thread. No, it wasn't him. He found it VERY funny that he had SEVERAL messages wanting to know if it was him. He said to pass on his thanks for thinking of him. He's still in Atlanta, but not in radio at this time. He's waiting for the right opportunity.

:-X WYAY-FM True Oldies 106.7 would do good to land Bob Bailey! He would be a great asset to that station! It is interesting to note that "Boomer" of the old Power 99 and Oldies Lake 102 FM is working for WYAY-FM in production. Boomer hired Bob in 1999 when Boomer had taken over WLKQ Lake 102 as PD. Before that, Bob had worked at WFOX-FM Fox 97 part-time and as Randy and Spiff`s replacement when they went on vacation. A.J. Cannon is also working at True Oldies 106.7 in production. Bob would be a great fit to join them as an on-air talent.

Bob Bailey has never been on the air at True Oldies or even applied as far as I know and A.J. no longer for for Citadel either and has been gone for a while.

It would be nice to hear Bob Bailey on True Oldies 106.7. Let me ask this to amlover. Do you know what the status of Spiff Carner (of Randy and Spiff) is at WYAY-True Oldies 106.7? He has posted mant times on his "Spiff Happens" blog that he is VERY interested in working on-air at True Oldides 106.7. You would think that he has a very good shot because the OM at WYAY is Mark Richards who programmed Fox 97 in its last days of Oldies and worked with Spiff. I remember Mark really praising Randy and Spiff back in those days. Is Spiff in the process of going live on True Oldies 106.7? :D 8)

Hey ya'll it's AJ. Was shocked to read I am working at True Oldies in production! While I do work and play well with others, I don't think that is true at this time. But then I have serious brain damage from my antics in the 90s so if I am working in a post-traumatic blackout, ask them to send me some checks.

Well, A.J. it was widely reported that you were working in production at WYAY and Kicks. Are you saying that you weren`t working there? Also, you were on the air on True Oldies 106.7 in a tryout for the afternoon gig. You sounded great, but they chose another guy in production there to go the afternoon show there. I believe that your former boss from WLKQ-Oldies Lake 102- Boomer is also at True Oldies 106.7 in production. Although, he hasn`t been live there on the air as I know.

A.J., I wouldn't challenge Goodtimesgreatoldies about you current employment. He knows better than you where you are currently working especially when you look at his logic that you used to work at Kicks so now you must work at Tru Oldies.

Goodtimesgreatoldies is averaging over 17 posts a day since he signed up last week. At this rate he is going to surprass Roddy in about 90 days. He is some kind of god-like figure. Either that or he was just released from jail and he has a lot of pent up energy and uses this board as his relief valve.

He is the equivalent of the e-mail spammer of the boards.

Dude does have an out of the blue, "I-gotta-make-up-for-lost-time" type urgency to his posts. I suspect he's angling for "Pope of the Posts".

Does Goodtimesand8oldies have a man crush on JJ, Spiff, or old Fox Jox?

Not that anybody cares but: A- Yes I did do some afternoons on True Oldies but I removed myself from afternoon drive consideration and resigned about 4 or 5 months ago (see, there's the brain damage again). Not that I would've gotten it anyway. I think they had several better options (like Boomer, followed by Rob and Fred). Tell you what, if they had more local talent with that cool mix of tunes they have it would sound awesome!

Weel, I enjoy discussing the crazy world of Atlanta radio! That is what the boards are for. Everyone else is welcomed to post too. This is a great site!

Is there really such a thing as "Pope of the Posts?" And if so, is there an awards banquet? I wanna go!

You'll know when everyone observes a puff of white smoke wafting up from the top of the bong.
