Bob Barker to Make Cameo Appearance on 'Price'

"CBS plans to air Mr. Barker's "Price" guest spot on April 16, 2009."

Yesterday a friend of mine sent me some pictures from Bob's appearance. Here they are just in case you don't want to wait two more weeks to see Bob

... and here are a bunch more

3 weeks? They tape TPIR that far ahead in advance? I had no idea

I'm assuming that is the "game show industry" standard?

BOB should take back over, get his original mike back and make something good out of it!!

It's that kind of wishful thinking that makes me wish for one more Family feud with the original host.

I wonder if he's going to promote his autobiography,
"Priceless Memories." If anyone's interested, the
major bookstore chains (Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc.)
have it.

That's precisely why he was there. Can't ask for a much better suited forum than that.

Regarding the earlier post about Feud...if the 1994 season demonstrated anything, it's that going back to original hosts is not always a good strategy.

It would be nice if during the show drew said "YOU TAKE IT BACK,I HAVE RUINED THIS SHOW,YOUR THE STAR HERE" ;D

Then he takes that new piece of crap mike and snaps it in 2 :D

Skimming his new book I was fascinated to
learn that one of his biggest fans was Groucho
Marx. Groucho once told Barker he liked him
because he didn't fit the image of a game-show
host. He ought to know; George Fenneman didn't
call Groucho "the one, the only" for nothing. (Groucho
also liked Bill Cullen, whom he called "the second wittiest
man in the business.")

Before anyone asks me what I mean by "the image of
a game-show host," I think Groucho meant the loudmouths
who first made their names on network radio; chief among
them was Bert Parks.

Um...ok now you're just being silly.

I'm still willing to agree there are better potential hosts they could have chosen though.

Todd Newton would have been great!

I think a lot of us thought Todd Newton would get the job;
after all, he's hosted live "Price" stage shows and knows the games.
But hey, what do I know? I thought John Roberts would get the
"CBS Evening News."

They tape Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy about 3 MONTHS in advance! Yes.... MONTHS.

Years ago, Pat Sajak commented (I think it was to Jay Leno) that Wheel tapes so far in advance and tapes so many shows at one time that he really only works about 3 months per year. Again, this was a few years ago. Whether Wheel still tapes that way, I don't know.

Regarding Barker, he's looking a bit more frail than the last time I saw him but not bad for a man of 103. I wonder if any of the lawsuits filed against him by Dian, Janice or Holly are considered Priceless Memories. ;D

I'm gonna go check out Amazon and buy the book.

I heard that there isn't much about Price Is Right in the book. It's mainly other things. Anyone who gets this book hoping that it's filled with Price Is Right stories is going to be disappointed.

That's just mean. Bob is eighty-freaking-four years old. I'm sure he might want to enjoy what life he has left. Nobody wants to work that long. Really, if you look at the Bob's first couple of seasons, I'm sure you'll see he wasn't as fluid as he was when he retired. Give Drew a couple of seasons and see if he comes around.

There is no come around. Todd Newton is the better choice. They screwed up in their thinking.

That is true. I was at a Barnes & Noble the other day skimming Barker's book and I noticed very little The Price is Right stuff in there but there is quite a bit about his life with his wife of many years Dorothy, his beef against fur coats and his support for the animals.

He is actually eighty-freaking-five.
