Bob Grant frustrated with only one hour

On Bob's shows yesterday, he made a couple of jokes about only being on the air for one hour. Then a caller called up and said that "WABC was just throwing him a bone, so he doesn't go to 710, and Mark Simone should get you over there." Then Bob said, "Mark is close with the program director over there," and Bob laughed and said "I don't want to talk about it." This part of the show was removed from the podcast.

It's still good to hear Bob Grant on the air. I'm sure the one hour shift is WABC's idea, not his. Got to run those infomercials that probably have ZERO listeners. Yes, they make money, but I can't imagine anybody listening to them.

Of course no one listens to them. That's not the point.

actually it was mr grant himself who requested 1 hour. he originally said that 2 hrs would be fine, but at the last minute decided to only do 1 hr.

IIRC, Bob had Noon-2:00. After a medical procedure he felt the need to cut back. The first hour is now sold to Eric Braverman, M.D.

An old Bob Grant is better than the infomercials that WABC has peppered the schedule with on the weekends. The station is a vast wasteland on Saturday and Sunday. Couple that with the same old same old during the week and no wonder their numbers are sagging.

He's better than infomercials, but he shouldn't be broadcasting anymore. He has on an attorney each week as a guest, and he's not entertaining anymore.

Bob Grant is at his best when taking listener phone calls. He is only on an hour a week, and half of that hour is usually taken up by guests, which usually ruin the momentum of his show. I still enjoy his program. As another poster mentioned, WABC on the weekend is a vast wasteland of brokered shows and infomercials. What a waste of a once great radio station. Grant's one hour is the only show worth listening to on the weekend. Up until this year, Mark Simone's shows were must listening.

I don't know what people hear in Mark Simone... he comes off as a know-it-all jackass every time I have tuned in. He's like the guy at the party you just want to get away from, you know, the guy where you ask him what time it is and he tells you how to build a watch.

His audience doesn't want to hear the same attorney interviewed about court tv cases every week.
