Bob Rudy fired at WSOX-FM, Oldies 96.1

Whatever the reason, it's evident that Mad Dog was threatened by such a talented broadcaster and human being.

I truly hope Crockett is able to squeeze in a few on-air words...even if they are only "96.1 WSOX"

The York Dispatch indicated that Bob Rudy would comment, after seeking counsel from his lawyer.

A lot of people on this board know what it feels like to be dumped for stupid reasons. It's the nature of the beast. However, it does not mean that we simply forget the great ones. Bob did the remotes that no one else would do, because it involved volunteer work. He continues to be a key person in helping to protect animals.
With Mad Dog, he's protecting his job and that fancy home of his. We are left with his parodies and the same hysterical antics. We thought that the laughter between Rudy and Ovadia was genuine...once again lied to by the big bopper we call "radio broadcasting".

And in the end, the listener is left out and walks away with something less.

Sonny sounds like a voice from inside. My spouse worked at the station and knew both Bob and Mad Dog well. We consider both of them as friends. However, as Sonny said, there are two distinct sides to Mad Dog. While he is a nice guy on the street he is a prima dona to work with. Although the listening public probably didn't know about or pick up on, Mad Dog repeatedly belittled Rudy on the air. He poked fun at some of Rudy's personal affairs, talking about, without getting too specific, things that had no business being on the air. Bob asked him to not do this but Mad Dog had to keep getting his digs in. I don't know if Mad Dog was or felt threatened by Rudy, but that is still no excuse for treating a co-worker that way. I don't like Rudy getting let go, but it is probably better for him in the long run.

Hey real radio guy, if you know something about the subject why not disclose it? All you have done is say get over it but it is real news. It was even in the Lancaster Sunday New Era this past sunday asking the same question as to what happened. If you dont like reading the post, and you dont know the truth, then you need to move on and let the rest of us post as to what we think has happened, or what we know happened that is what this site is for, again YOU move on.

Okay. So I promised myself I wouldn't go to the gutter on this no matter what kinds of false truths might circulate among our fellow radio brothers/sisters...past or present. I felt as though "hitting below the belt" would be disrespectful not only to the people involved, but to the industry many of us still love and hold a great deal of passion for. As flattering as it is to think that I might have the power to point to people and get them terminated at will, it is TOTALLY ridiculous. Obviously, this was a decision that was made by management...whether you agree with the result or not. Bob is a good person with a good heart. I live my life pretty much on the air while he would always make certain to tell me where and where not to go in regard with his personal life. MANY TIMES I would ask him how much of a situation he wanted to share "on air" so I knew where to draw the line and where to go with the content. I ALWAYS respected that. Many times I'd ask him after a pre-recorded piece if he was "okay" with something or often he would tell me to edit something either he or I or a listener said out. I ALWAYS DID! We poked as much fun at my big nose and bald spot and many other shortcomings as we did anything in regard to him. He knows this, and so do I. Why create drama where it needn't be? Morning shows do not last forever. People move on from jobs all the time for many varied reasons. Shall we peak into your personal files at your workplace and discuss them on this board? I respect all of you who post, even those of you who have said some pretty nasty things about me. You don't know me, but pretend to. You are certainly entitled to your opinions and I can appreciate that. When I lay my head down tonight, I will rest easy knowing that the team of people I am blessed to be working with share the same goals and passions as I do...to do the best radio we know how. Thanks for flattering us with these lengthy rationals as to "what might have happened". It wasn't long ago that I felt as though we were quite invisible on this board. You have proven me wrong.
Most sincerely,
Mad Dog

That's a very respectable post, Mad Dog. My hat's off to you. Have a great weekend.

PAradioguy, yes I do know some of what went on (NO ONE knows exactly except the few in on the meeting) and that's between the radio station management and Bob. I think Mad Dog said it best. He's come to me many times this past month asking if he should post and I always told him no. He felt that enough was enough and finally responded. To a few of you that probably means that he has a third face...not to me...again, can we let it drop? It's not worth our time any longer.
