You realize if you're not right on this, you've lost all credibility?

there's no such thing as credibility on a board like this. Fisher and Sandusky won't sell to Bonneville. It just wont happen. And the post that said MOVIN exploding is a reason to buy out Sandusky, you've got to be kidding. MOVIN is the furthest thing from "Mormon values", they'd never go for it.

Bonneville owns a MOVIN station station in St. Louis, MO (WMVN-FM)

Movin' is white rap. To Bonneville, Movin' is gangsta rap, so don't look for them to be sniffing the shizzle at KUBE.

They have a very successful Jack clone in St. Louis, and it makes perfect sense for them to have done the same thing with Movin'.

KSL in Salt Lake is successful, and they do have an FM simulcast, but that does not necessarily mean they will copy it in Seattle. These guys are smart, and they will analyze what has the highest probability of working before making changes.

They also have a highly successful simulcast in Washington DC, even better than Salt Lake.

Yes, they will analyze to see the potential, but it's easy to see (especially given Seattle's current radio landscape) that they will have a favorable view of doing FM news/talk.

Right, Horsepucky. The combination would give Bonneville a lock on news in the market, as well as conservative talk. KBSG picks up a .5 - .8 share on the Am and moves into the upper 3s or 4s. Meanwhile KOMO has every sports team on it. two stations cost nothing to run, and when all is finished Bonneville really just owns 4 stations. But maybe you are right and the source is wrong...maybe we will see who is right. ;)

Are you saying that a station like KOMO, as it is programmed right now, "cost nothing to run?"

It may not be KBSG, but if Bonneville eventually does FM news/talk, it likely will have little resemblance to The Buzz (now Wolf). Tom Leykis on a Bonneville station? When Puget Sound freezes over.

However, Seahawk football and Dave Ross would be a good fit. Mike Webb won't be asked back. The potential to do good things with an FM news/talk is there. I see a KSL-Northwest style, but with a little less religious overtone. BTW, despite popular belief, KSL does not sound like a Mormon radio station, except perhaps on Sundays. And their TV station, while not sensational, looks and feels like most Seattle stations, covering the news in an unbiased way.
Bonneville does not push the Mormon thing, it simply acknowledges it occasionally.

1. Salt Lake demographics are a little bit different since it's smack in the middle of .... Utah....?? I would EXPECT any station in the market to use their ownership to their advantage.

2. Bonneville would get blood pressure up at CBS now and then because they refused to clear some of the network programming. CBS wasn't all that thrilled about losing market #12 on some of their edgier specials. That actually contributed a LITTLE bit to the whole CBS network fiasco when Gaylord made the pitch to move it to 11 (although the whole deal was driven primarily by out-of-market squeeze play by Gaylord). So while the top-of-hour Id's don't say "we're the MORMON station..." there were several times when it was still clear Seattle got a little different treatment because of the beliefs.

The above is true. It really is a mixed bag for Bonneville and their programming decisions. KSL-TV, while an NBC affiliate, does not carry Saturday Night Live. (Fortunately, another SLC station picked it up). But I would challenge the average consumer to watch and listen to Bonneville's SLC products and come to an obvious conclusion they were Mormon-owned. They just don't wear it on their sleeve like many believe.

And unlike Salem, they're actually consistent
