And on shows like Whad Ya Know, the audience hisses at the mention of anything conservative.

Ingraham yrs ago played a couple cuts of a show she jokingly referred to as "Stale Air With
Terri Gross-Me-Out" where the host was rude to guest Bill O'Reilly but fawned over Al Franken.
Also a few yrs back an attempt was made to put 7 minutes PER WEEK of conservative content on
Morning Edition--profiles of right-leaning figures. This drew anger from NPR's core audience.

>>a lack of middle-of-the-road, centrist, or liberal programming on commercial talk stations in most markets.

There may be some who paint themselves that way--middle of the road or centrist, and I think
both Geraldo and Huckabee painted themselves at least as "non-angry, let's just talk..." hosts.
One host, not sure if he's still around, Alan Nathan called himself "the Militant Moderate" and said
"we want the Republicans out of our bedrooms, the Democrats out of our wallets and both away
from our first and second amendment rights". Since most haven't heard of him (WNSH
had him for awhile) he may not have made too much headway. Dennis Miller may be a bit to
the left on social issues, etc. but at least one left leaning guy I know said he couldn't stand
him at all.

>>Wolfe doesn't call the shots on WRKOs lineup, and Cooksey is a gofer.

So who does...is it the bigwigs at Entercom in Bala Cynwyd PA? The folks who have a liberal format in Buffalo...
and supposedly David Field is to the left. If that's so why isn't 680 Boston's Progressive Talk?
If they feel conservative talk is not the answer at Entercom HQ, why isn't the lineup some local liberal
followed by Steph Miller, Ed Schulz, Thom Hartmann, Mike Malloy, Randi Rhodes...
the closest they got to that was either Steph Miller in the late 90s, or that Jay Diamond guy.
