>>Olbermann gets muzzled while Hannity gets pampered. A lot easier to get audience if a corporation is backing you. Do you really think John DePetro offers anything of value to this community?
Olbermann, muzzled by MSNBC? No, people just aren't tuning in. (I think some guy named O'Reilly is getting
viewers instead in that slot.) MicroSoft + NBC both sound like corporations to me.
Hannity gets pampered because he gets listeners. I think he has a deal for $5 million a yr for 5 years.
That would be paltry by baseball player standards but it's a heck of a lot more than Franken made.
And, here's the thing, the checks ABC Radio gave to Sean don't bounce! :
Does John DePetro offer something? Yes, he offers the OTHER SIDE. In a media environment dominated by
liberals (Globe, local TV, etc.), he provides an alternative. It's not the fault of the liberals in media that they
haven't found how to do talk radio that attracts listeners. If there were compelling liberal talk hosts around,
people who could get ratings equal to or better than Rush,Howie, et al, the likes of WRKO would air them.
Instead, they'd rather make money by offering an alternative.
Rock n roll was an alternative to Mitch Miller. Conservatalk is an alternative to liberal media.
