Country radio is booming here! WKLB increased by more then 1 share! The Bull maintains, all the while WCTK rises to a 1.7 share! When was the last time a station out of Provudence Market due so well in Boston?

I'm surprised no one else in Providence has flipped to Country given how far WCTK's tower is from the center of the city.

Hmmmm, I guess I'm the only one who listens to WXKS-AM! Ratings are very very low! It's okay though, I'll take it over the crap on RKO any day!

Good point--looking at the radio-locator maps, WCTK's signal just about reaches the city in the local range but isn't quite centered there and signals of WKLB Waltham and WORC Webster are also fairly far away.Are many listeners doing
so online or does WCTK manage to be half decent...but no moves by other Prov FMs to go country and get a more centralized signal...?

As for 1200 it can be a half decent signal and I
believe the night signal is aimed toward Boston.
As is day signal.Night signal cuts out around
Framingham, the radio- locator map shows.
And there IS the app...
Beck, Sexton and Travis (starts 21st), Hannity,Kelly (starts 28th), Levin..overnight

News-talk as a format has been dropping nationally. The talking points don't seem to be resonating the way they once did. The same goes for TV. While Fox News is still #1, the average number of viewers has dropped for all news channels.

Oh yeah , they lost .05 share over the past 3 Months. And yet, they are on entire share higher than WEII-FM, and some people still think that AM radio is dead!

Except that in sales demos, the FM wins significantly. AM's biggest problem is that those under 50 seldom use the band... unless there is no alternative.

3-month 25-54 averge for WEEI-FM is 3.2 and for WRKO it is 1.9. WEEI-FM even beats WBZ AM, in fact. WEEI outbills WRKO by nearly five to one, and it is 2nd in the market; WRKO is 13th.

Back in the late 60s and early 70s, WHIM 94.1 had a great sounding Country station in Providence. Franks sold the station and it became WHJY. I often wonder "what if" they had remained Country? Might be a whole different story ratings wise. I doubt if WCTK would even be a player today. Just MHO.
