Globe article and Wiki entry on him say he started as Kiss morning host in Jan of 1981 (the hiring was in summer of 1980...that year, he was on Ch 5's 5 All Night Live)

I got the 1981 date from Wiki, too, I confess. But the additional info certainly indicates that 1979 is not the right answer.

Yep yep yep...he said he was going national in July of what year????...it was when he was thrown into the 12-3 slot. I remember him saying that IF the ratings were up by the time December rolled around, he'd be going national.....I stopped listening about a week or so after he went to noontime because it was the same crap over and over again, the hysterical laughing, the lack of show prep, the drama, the name calling when he had a lib on the line...AND the worst part was that he blamed his "bambinos" for not giving 100% while he was doing the morning show and PROMISED he would definitely do better in the noon to three slot - from what I understand, he STILL hasn't gone national! AND I remember reading somewhere that the claim was that his ratings in the noon slot where higher than what Rush had.....I find that hard to believe....I'd like to see those ratings. When he first came to RKO IIRC it was 2010...he was riveting...he was on for an hour from 11 to noon and I remember being glued to my radio...but....when RKO got rid of feinberg and that horrible michele with one l...(don't get me started on her), anyway...once he went on for 4 hours straight in the 6a to 10a slot, he turned into a HUGE drama queen and a fake/fraud/phony...I remember he was a HUGE fan of "charlie parker" and told his audience they HAD to vote for charlie. SMH. I listen to sports radio in the morning on talk1200....I wouldn't listen to kuhner if he was the last talkshow host on the planet.....I'd rather listen to static.

Just so David is in on the joke, WRKO morning man Jeff Kuhner , who was doing mid days a while back, was crowing one time after the management had moved his time slot that he was going to be syndicated or some such BS..

He seems to IMHO have a very high opinion of himself and his talent, an opinion that is not shared by many people.

I find him unlistenable

I heard Fred @WBZ-FM attribute station's better numbers to -him- talking about his personal difficulties with addiction. I don't think that worked over @EEI-FM.
