Migrating an angry-old-white-man format to FM is going to draw those 25-to-54's like a vacuum cleaner? You're kidding, right?

You're right. People talk about the band as if it's the only thing that means anything.

If you're a talk radio listener, and the only game left in town is on AM, you listen to AM.

It's the music crowd that's never heard of AM, not the talk radio crowd.

waaf had a 2.1 the last book and has been in steady decline and we all know how rock stations are doing now a days.

In your dreams. We can't post anything but 6+ figures here, but suffice it to say they had several times that share in men 18-34 (which is their "money" demo) in the November ratings, and increased that in the December ratings. Fifth place both times.

I know you guys don't count HD2's as real stations but just in case if you don't know 94.5 HD2 is Old School Hip Hop if anyone is looking for that? Obviously this has little affect on what 96.9 does. I think that they would probably be looking for a wider scale audience for a top of the Pru full power analog signal myself.

Clear Channel just flipped an FM Talk station in San Diego to Rhythmic Oldies, 95.7 KOGO-FM. (They kept the AM simulcast, 600 KOGO, as Talk.)

Would something like that work on 96.9 in Boston? Like Boston, San Diego has a small African-American community, only 5%, but a growing Hispanic community. So this music is really aimed at Latina middle-aged women who prefer a more rhythmic mix of 60s, 70s and 80s.

Partial credit for tvradiogeek - when WRNB was on 107.9, they did run a 90's-heavy R&B format for a little while. Cox also had "97.1 Jamz" in Atlanta for a little while, which ran the same format. Neither station really took off with the approach, despite being in markets with large African American populations.

Would something like that work on 96.9 in Boston? Like Boston, San Diego has a small African-American community, only 5%, but a growing Hispanic community. So this music is really aimed at Latina middle-aged women who prefer a more rhythmic mix of 60s, 70s and 80s.

And perhaps even more surprisingly, this is San Diego's second station with the format! ("Magic 92.5" XHRM is the other)
