Break-up for WAZY Wake-up Crew?

The off the record information that has come across my ears is that Stephanie has accepted a position outside of radio. I have always enjoyed listening to her on WAZY. You can argue about delivery or whatever, but she has been one of the few personalities in this community to be able to make a true "connection" with the listeners. People consider her part of their family. I don't know that they fell that way about Muumey or Strange or Sommers or Marci or whomever.

I remember the late 90's on WKHY when Morgan and Margot did the morning show. The whole gimmick was that if Margot lost a bet she was going to walk 'naked' up Chauncey Hill. I was there, waiting to see her naked. The car pulls up and Margot gets out, fully clothed. On the end of a leash was a dog named 'Naked' that she walked up Chauncey Hill. Margot walking "Naked". Stephanie has been a part of memories like that for listeners. First with Bob Richards and then with Gavin. She is a throwback to the old days of radio when you were more than just a host...you were a personality. Not only on the air, but in the community. The radio world will definitely miss a true Personality like Stephanie.

What a great point!

I've been too preoccupied that her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard and not at all my cup of tea. Clients must be saying, "Hey! I've got Stephanie on my commerical!" and not
"Hey! She's going to drive people away from the store with that voice!".

But, you're right, it seems like the folks that tuned in were diehard Stephanie fans. But another inevitablitly in radio is that God himself could be listening, but if it doesn't show up in the numbers and they've reached the artificial "ceiling" on how much they can pay you, you're probably going to be booted or quit.

It's sort of like Bob Rohrman, he's not Brad Pitt onscreen, but everybody knows him and he has some sort of connection to the community. Your comment makes me think of Stephanie a different way now!
