BREAKIN NEWS

With all due respect Klunk, that is the worst place to rely on for true information. He isn't a news source as Radio-Info is, he never cites sources and is often wrong as was proven with his embarassing altered WGN soundclip he hosted a few weeks back.

Has this been verified elsewhere as being credible?

Told ya...... slowly 92.3 will be R&B

How long have i been sayin this. The station has been going back wards since Kendra G left the morning show. Since then it hasn't been strong, period. Should have brought me in as PD, but what do I know, I'm only young and have my ear to the streets. Too bad I won't reveal myself so i will never get the job!

First question comes to mind is is if they keep Power 92 Mainstream urban, how many grown folk will maintain listening to 92.3 after TJMS signs off? Relatively none. Once again, an Urban AC morning show on a Urban mainstream station doesn't fit. TJMS has a strong following but that will not do much in terms for the rest of the day parts, therefore its only right for the station to go UAC.

So the 2nd question is are they going to bring hip hop back to 106.3 or abandon it all together and go back religious/gospel.......

Full circle.
New Legal: "WVJM Lansing-Chicago / WBJM Genoa-Rockford Dekalb - 106 Jamz Where Hip Hop Lives"

Can't use "Power 106" like they did before unless they end up switching "Soul 92.3" course the "Power" name was being used in terms of religious "power" after they dropped the WYBA "Born Again" Gospel station name.

It would also boost marketability for Rockford being there is no Hip Hop station in that market. Course there is no R&B station besides 106.3 that caters to Rockford but I had got a lil word over months ago... .that Rockford will be Hip Hop. Course they never seemed to be serious about that market in the first place.

One thing is for sure, Hip Hop stations do not work just being a juke box with absolutely no air talent. Soul 106.3 is overall syndicated most every daypart, that will not work for Urban.

Spoke too soon, heard "Hits and Hip Hop" on 106.3, using the same lame Imaging as Power 92.

That positioner makes the station pop or crossover-rhythmic??? That won't work for the South side, sorry south side where 106.3 is strongest is not B96 listener-type and rhythmic wont work, just make the D*$@ station hood radio 24-7 and market it. Its obvious the sales staff doesn't know how to sell hip hop radio, like usual.

I really wish they would drop the voice from 92, and get someone in there that sounds so much better. Ever realize that crappy imaging can be annoying and make folks not listen? 106.3 went through 4 voice guys. 92.3 kept the worst since launch. I'm not following the idea here......

Anyway, it will be bad news for the west burbs if they do a split simulcast of 92.3 Chicago / 106.3 Rockford as the 106.3 signal in Genoa is way too close to the metro area of Chicago and having Lansing do one program and Genoa do another will make the frequency impossible to listen to in the western burbs.

Hmmm, i'm hearing Warren Ballentine's show on WSRB / SOUL 106.3 via the net. I'm assuming Al Sharpton show will follow then Michael Baisden in the aftrenoons. Is Crawford trying to compete against V103 with 2 stationd both catering to the 25-54 demo? POWER 92.3 is only playing R&B. Where's the Hip-Hop?
