breaking BRW 103.3 to amp format, 60s-70s-80s to hd2

This is boneheaded. Amp 103.3 will certainly eat at Mix 104.1, heck they're next to each other on the dial if a listener uses the seek button. There's also Kiss 108 and Jamn 94.5, and 92.3 Pro FM to the southwest. They should have flipped 104.1 to Amp instead.

They're going to almost completely get rid of WODS' audience. The kids of the WODS listeners will love the new format.

sad day indeed they should have flipped mix 104.1 which in my opinion is the most useless of cbs Boston's stations!! But times change and they must have felt they couldn't compete any longer, i''m shocked there wasn't any rumors just bam here we go,i'll be listening to the new amp i'm a huge fan of cbs so lets see what happens!!

I think they have other plans for 104.1. I just don't get why some people on here thinks Kiss&Jam'n are so untouchable. They are solid stations for sure. But they are definitely nothing special. The competition this will create only benefits the listener and to me that's whats important. If I were cc I would definitely skew Jam'n more urban and turn 101.7 into an oldies/adult hits type format.

By the way, Fox 25 just had a story about WODS switching formats. Except they called the outgoing format "Oldies 103.3". And it hasn't been called that for a few years. ::)

Between that, and Jack Williams calling the rapper sure to be heard on Amp "Flo Reeda," TV in this town isn't doing them much of a favor out of the gate.

So have we confirmed how many songs in a row commercial-free AMP 103.3 will launch with today? 10,000? Do I hear 20,000? 20,000?

I wouldn't be surprised if they let the WODS call letters go. The only reason to have them is the passing resemblance to the word "Oldies" - they're a clunky set of calls for a DJ to say over and over. Many in Boston still know it as "Oldies 103"...

Food for thought: CBS' NYC CHR "92.3 Now", which has been on the air for over three years, is still sporting the WXRK calls from its previous two existences as a rock station. Eat up...

Well, another CBS radio train wreck in the making. Sit back and enjoy the ride. I'd love to see 103.3's ratings in 12-24 months. They wont be at "Oldies 103" level.

Thankfully, I have XM in the car and at home......

Yawn. So WODS goes from one format playing songs heard multiple places on the dial to another format playing songs heard multiple places on the dial. Not that I pressed their pre-set on my radio often, but I'll certainly find another station to put there now. Maybe W235AV.

The statement says the station will play artists like Rihanna, Usher, Maroon 5, Pitbull, Flo Rida, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj .

WBMX is currently playing songs by Rihanna, Usher, Maroon 5, Pitbull, Flo Rida, and Katy Perry.

WBMX is also currently playing songs by Train, Neon Trees, Jason Mraz, Andy Grammer, Carrie Underwood, Coldplay, Daughtry, Ed Sheeran, and Lady Antebellum

I can almost guarantee you you're not going to hear these new tracks on Amp 103.3

No, but the audience will be nearly 100 percent free of those 55+ listeners (and there are plenty of us still listening to CHR into the late '80s, when grunge and rap finally drove us off, so the marginalization of the '60s on 'ODS wasn't a death blow) most advertisers don't want to see.

I think CBS will move 104.1 into an Adult CHR

I don't see a Play 104.1 coming to Boston any time soon... does not make sense to tie up two signals trying to shave some share points off from Kiss and Jamn. I think if 103.3 had not gone CHR, it would have made more sense to move WBMX into an Adult CHR. I really like their Adult CHR in Tampa and listen to it either online or when I am visiting my parents (for now... WSJT is going to a sports radio format soon.)

103.3 changes to Top 40 format called AMP...Classic 60's,70's,80's moves to HD2 starting tomorrow(6/28)
As all format changes are, it is a money based decision, CBS is going after a younger audience, the music at their station did creep up in years, 60's is great but after awhile the audience get older. Lets face it how many big band stations are there now?

does anyone think they might simulcast Carson daly's morning show from amp in la?? even though its a time difference I'm sure there is a way to do it!!

This is a great day, 103 is Top 40 again! Yay!
This is a sad day, I really liked WODS... Boo....

Yes as evidenced by one song choice yesterday that was only two years younger than me:
I Wanna Hold Your Hand. (Followed by something a bit more recent, Tainted Love)
