BREAKING NEWS: CBS 3 (KYW-TV/DT) ANCHOR ARRESTED

JerseyDude said:
Kyle,

That explains why the cops screwed with her in the first place. They thought she was some poor hispanic woman from the Bronx with no money. Boy, were they in for a big suprise when they found out that she is an educated latina with money who could fight bull charges.

Thanks for clearing that up Kyle

Talk about having a closed mind!

Maybe she should just be happy she didn't get busted closer to home in Pennsylvania:

If she had been, she might have some more photos she could email.

In addition to going after a married football player with her emailed bikini shots...

For the record, that married "football player" is actually NFL Network's Rich Eisen, who is married to ESPN's Suzy "Browaday Joe Wants To Kiss Me, YEAHHHH!" Kolber.

God, this thing is amusing!! And, she totally seems to be the prima donna type who would do something like this after having a wine cooler or two! Not to mention that, as she was mouthing off to the cop, she pulled a "do you know who I am!" LOL! Like a NY City cop would really care that she's a TV anchor in Philadelphia. That and $0.50 won't even buy USA Today anymore!

That her and Booker even made contact with the two cops in their car lends creedance to the cops story. Yes, I know that cops can be abusive, but she definitely did some things that were utterly stupid and crossed the line. Had she minded her own business, I doubt that anything would have happened. Not only is she charged with a felony, it has become clear that she has more looks than brains.

This thing is going to be fun to watch! :D

CBS 3 issues statement of Lane's arrest

Here is the CBS3 official statement about Alycia Lane released today (December 17).

"We have been in touch with both Alycia and her attorney. Both emphatically state that when all of the facts are made public, she will be exonerated. Alycia says that she never struck anyone nor made the disparaging remarks that have been attributed to her. She was scheduled to begin two weeks of planned vacation time beginning next Monday. Given the circumstances, she and station management agreed that it would be best if she begin her time off today so that she can handle this pressing situation." This is from http://www.lauranachman.net/

BRNout ,

It's gonna be fun watching the State of New York dismiss the charges. If it goes to trial, a racially mixed Manhattan jury will find her NOT GUILTY.

Her attorney (not Public Defender) is going to work some magic down at 100 Centre Street. Serious charges on stick to the poor. Money talks.

In addition according to Laura Nachman, Although it was previously announced that Lane was going to co-host the CBS3 New Year's Eve fireworks display from Penns Landing, she will not participate in that broadcast. (Too bad. Evidently, she's good at setting off fireworks)

Bravo, Julius. That was true zinger!

Now that she's been taken off the air, by the time her court date rolls around in April, she may not be able to afford a high-priced lawyer.

I guess you are happy to live in a world where justice can be bought and paid for. Were you a fan of OJ, too?

Alycia Lane reportedly called PA governor Ed Rendell to tell him her side of the story: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/phillygossip/Why_did_Alycia_fresh_from_jail_call_Gov_Rendell.html

So, can I call Fast Eddie Rendell if I punch a cop and get in trouble? Too bad I don't have any bikini pics to send him, right? What a bunch of crap.

This is precisely the problem we have in society. The rich and powerful can pull strings to get out of the trouble that their spoiled behaviour gets them in to. Meanwhile, average folks end up losing everything for such offenses.

The more I hear about Ms. Lane, the more I dislike her. It will be fun indeed to see the mascara run down her legs when CBS cans her. There is no way that she can stay in her present job with all this going on. In fact, I've never seen anything quite like this. She is obviously quite a piece of work.

To those who question the cops and their motives: do they sometimes embellish their stories? Yes. But, this has to be at least based on a true story. There's just no way that Lane is a totally innocent victim. The circumstances do not permit that. And, this even being partly true should be enough for her dismissal. Not to mention that it is utterly irresponsible and ridiculous on her part.

Again, the sad thing is that I can imagine the whole thing happening and believe that it did.

Screwed with her in the first place? By questioning the occupants of a car that appeared to be drunk and were verbally assaulting the police? Is that how they screwed with her in the first place?

The whole thing is kind of amusing to follow. How long before she's on Dr. Phil again to deal with anger management issues?

Does Philly have another Jessica Savitch in the works here. This woman has been bad news since she blew into town...bad marriages...e-mailing pictures of her in a bikini to married men and now this. but i am turning on cbs3 for the 11 pm news

There is no comparison between Jessica Savitch and Alycia. Yes, both had problems. Both did news on KYW-TV. Jessica was more than a news mannequin. She learned her craft, paid her dues and actually did more than show up and look good.

Lane was supposed to be in a KYW Christmas special tonight... turns out it will go on without her:

"...the status of Alycia’s involvement in the Celebrate the Season holiday show scheduled to air on CBS 3 tomorrow at 7 p.m.: Apparently she’ll be edited out of the whole holly-jolly affair..."

What you said there speaks volumes about what's REALLY going on here. Being that we weren't there, none of us know 100% what exactly was said and done when this went down. However, the vibe I've been getting from various message boards and articles about Alycia is that no one is surprised that she could have done this. If that is the image people have about you, honestly, why would anyone want her to continue on at their station.

She got a pardon for the Eisen thing, but her propensity for outrageous behavior seems to be more than just a one-time problem.

Exactly. I've lived in the market for 18 months and she's been headline news in the tabs (and fodder for talk radio) on two different occasions. Grand total of such stories for all of the other anchors in Philly, combined: zero. Clearly, she is someone who has issues.

Have you ever gotten loaded and popped a cop in the face, particularly after using a nasty anti-gay epithet? Probably not. It's hardly a right of passage. That alone should have gotten her fired, as it would for any guy.

It's worthy of mention that the female cop had to be treated for her injuries - making it even more unlikely that this is some elaborate scheme to set up a half-latina news anchor and a wannabe he-man DJ from out of town. I'm sure that they took pictures of the cop's injuries that could come out in court. However, this will probably be settled before then....as a misdemeanor of some sort.

No matter, it's clear that Alycia Lane and Booger went looking for trouble. Why not just pass the cop car by? 9th Avenue is a pretty wide street. Or say "sorry" and move on? No, they incited a confrontation. Interesting that Booger wasn't charged. What does that tell you?

About little Miss Alycia, the more photos and stories I read about her, the skankier she seems. She comes off as someone who has been elevated in the business by looking great on TV (after make-up is applied) and not by her journalistic prowess. If you're CBS 3 in Philly, is that how you want your newsroom to be characterized?

By the way, without makeup and copius amounts of hairstyling, she's hardly a vixen.

In her situation, she should not be calling another married man, especially when the married man in question is married to a judge.
Rendell called WIP-AM this morning about this: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/phillygossip/Rendell_talks_Alycia_on_610_WIP.html
