Breeze no more?

The website radioinsight reports The Breeze may be flipping formats soon. To what is not known but several domains were put online. They come up radio1071.com and others. What could it be rock, talk or variety hits?

It could very well be just a re-branding, not a full-fledged format flip ..
We'll see ..

They always seem to have good ratings, often the #2 NJ station behind NJ101.5. I've heard the owners are looking to sell these stations. So the reduction in staff and other moves may just be to cut overhead.

I'm sure they'll leave the current format in place to allow a new owner to decide if they want to keep it. I've always commended the station for having NYC-quality staffers and aiming for a 40-55 audience. The Jersey Shore is filled with so many older listeners that they should have a radio station aimed at them, not just Talk NJ101.5.

If Press is pulling out, say hello to Monmouth/Ocean radio that originates in an office park in Pittsburgh or somewhere similarly local...

...and it would be Press' opinion that that's what Monmouth/Ocean deserves.

The station mostly just refers to itself as "107-1 and 99-7" now anyway, so something must be brewing. It wouldn't make a lot of sense for them to rebrand as Radio 107.1, since the station's signal has some overlap with Philadelphia's Radio 104.5. I guess the new domain names could just be an excuse for them to not mention the "Breeze" name over the air at all, since for the most part they've only been mentioning it when they give a "listen online" plug.

EDM in Monmouth, Rock Alternative in Ocean :D

This Middlesex County resident would prefer Alternative on 107.1 - but hey, I'd welcome anything different. Not sure if I see either option happening, though.

InsideRadio has an article that provides information about the direction of the station from Press Communications GM Rich Morena.
He indicates it will remain an A/C. The playlist will be trimmed from around 1,500 songs to only about 500. The music will sound more contemporary. Morena said this is based on listener research.
I hope that sister station Thunder Country, which is an interesting listen due to its rather large playlist, does not become a cookie cutter country station with less variety.

So the way I read this is ... their research has told them that their listeners want another station that sounds just like WOBM & Magic. Brilliant. I'm assuming they've got the same people doing that for them who thought dropping G Rock for Hit 106 was a good idea ... well, we all know how well THAT turned out, don't we? Seriously, with a few non-commercial exceptions, radio in Monmouth/Ocean is an abomination, with Press Communications being the worst offenders of all.

According to B98.5's FB, Nina & Tom are moving to 107.1 & 99.7 this Monday 4/22.
Kelso & Sara will take over on B98.5 this Monday at 6 AM.

The HUGE announcement has been made!!! Pork Roll and Eggs with NINA and TOM is BACK...and they're moving to 107.1FM Monmouth/Ocean & 99.7FM in Southern Ocean Monday morning! Same great show...different dial! Kelso & Sara will take over mornings starting Monday at 6am on B985!

It's just pathetic. You'd think the area would be able to support a full time gold/AC. Shore radio is only worth listening to when 101.5 is playing music on weekends. CBS-FM's signal is sketchy due to WBEB in the area. I just dont get how this Monmouth-Ocean market can support so many Hot/AC stations that sound so much like eachother, you got 94.3 The Point (which used to be more Adult Alternative eons ago), Magic 100.1 (boring, bland, bring back JRZ), 92.7 WOBM (better on weekends but how much Call Me Maybe can you take?), and now Radio 107.1. Perhaps Press wants to shed listeners for sale of their radio stations? It's a perfect opportunity for Greater Media to take Magic in a more gold based direction, but that wont happen. :(

I agree that the entire region is being smothered with CHR/rap stations stations playing basically the same music. There are behind the scenes financial benefits for playing this stuff. Not calling it payola but it bears resemblance and it is somewhat legal. It's very big. Very Big!

For those that like really great gold, consider listening to WIBG-FM over the internet or on your cell. :)

Three words....TuneIn Radio App.

Glad you brought this up! I wonder how many people listen to radio on their iphone and droids. You can listen to our station by using tunein.com (LIFT FM) and we are in the process of having our own custom app made, but with that said are their stats on listenership for droids/iphone?

I have one server just for Windows Media and TuneIn Radio for party732.com. I got 533 TuneIn Radio sessions as of yesterday.

TuneIn works for getting WBJB-HD2 without an HD radio, too. There's also a Brookdale Public Radio app for both iDevices and Android-sters that covers our three signals.

Look us up as "Altrok 90.5 HD2", then do yourself a favor and choose the 32k AAC stream. Weekdays, you'll hear Tom, Margaret or myself saying, "and that was...and now here is."

Most recently as of this writing, we've played Foals, NEW The Ocean Blue, Mike Doughty, Buzzcocks, IO Echo, NEW Robyn Hitchcock, The Motors, Cayucas, Supergloo, and Beck. And for those songs you could only ever hear on FM106.3, we've got 'em.

Pork Roll and Eggs with Nina and Tom is now on 107.1 and 99.7 as of today. The morning show was on 98.5.

Pork Roll and Eggs. Free Beer and Hot Wings.

Morning shows are the thing that embarrass me about being in this business the most.

Pork Roll and Eggs. Seriously.
