Broadcasting Road

Unless I missed them while driving to Reading yesterday, didn't see any towers near Broadcasting Road. Anyone know the origin of the street name?

I believe the property where the shopping center is now was the tower site of WEEU in Reading. A few years ago they were offered a good chunk of money for the site. It allowed them to change frequency, raise power and move to a new site just on the north edge of I-78, west of Route 61 and Cabelas. BTW, west of the new tower site along I-78, in an old gas station building, is short wave tower site of Radio Yahweh (sp) which beams over into Isreal. I do not remember their call letters at this moment but they did have a web site a few years ago showing the old transmitters and the installation of some newer transmitters.

The call letters of the Shortwave station are WMLK. Also, when WEEU first moved to the new site, they ran 5 KW Day, 6 KW night using a very tight pattern both day and night. Since that time they've increased day power to 20 KW while significantly opening up the pattern.
