Brock & Salk Podcast only

They have been doing a lot of experimentation with current staff and mixing in youth. On top of what's mentioned in the article, Grosby is moving into the twilight of his career and it sounds like they're trying to develop Jake Heaps into a John Clayton type role. While Clayton will likely stick around, it's clear a big shakeup is coming in the next couple of weeks.

Highly doubtful Levy will be a part of it, way too much baggage even beyond the Bellevue sting operation.

Listening today was interesting how the spin was all about how podcasts are the future and what a great move. Nonsense. Listeners are not stupid. They just blew up a successful morning show on the top sports station in Seattle. I hope they have a good plan for a replacement.

That said Brock is an up and coming tv analyst with Fox. More power to him...

Will Salk have any time for the on-air time now that he is PM for the entire Seattle operation? Seems like that's a big job. Then it becomes a question if they wanted to find another partner for Brock's droning, or just let him do his football broadcasting.

Maybe just foist Seattle Sports Saturday onto the weekday schedule? Doesn't seem like KJR's morning has a strangle-hold on anything

It is obvious to this listener that Jake Heaps will get a daytime slot in the new alignment. They have been using him abundantly lately. And he is very good.

The Groz goodbye today was good radio, until you realize he won't be back. A big loss. Hopefully he will come back sparingly to add insight.

I'm actually listening to Seattle Sports Saturday right now, and they're admitting the reason for the podcast move is that Brock's Fox duties and Salk's PM duties don't leave them much time for a full time radio show.

Yeah they admitted this on air on the day they made the announcement. My only point is a podcast usually only reaches a very small audience compared to traditional media. But good on them for keeping themselves “available”.

Good, but not 'very good' yet.

Say what? He signed a two year contract to continue as a daily contributor to Clayton's show and will do 30 fill-in shows per year.

So who replaces them? Golic & Wingo?

Sure smells like another budget cut...

Bonneville terminates the KIRO-FM PD after a year, moves the ESPN 710 PD to program all three stations and reduces the roles of Brock Huard and Dave Grosby, probably the two highest paid talent on Eastlake. On top of Ron & Don being dumped nine months ago.

You bet these are salary dumps.

Q4 is upon us and overall broadcast revenue in Seattle-Tacoma is down. Gotta hit the EOY budget numbers one way or the other or.. (finger slashing across throat).

I should have been more exact...won't be back for a regular show, just 10 minutes with Clayton.

"just 10 minutes with Clayton" a day and six weeks of fill-ins per year are better than going away for good. Plus, Grosby's contributions being far more reaching than from just behind a microphone. Smart move by Bonneville to keep him in the building, both need each other.

Tomorrow is the reveal on the new 710 ESPN lineup.

The new morning guy will be Paul Gallant, from Houston. Danny O'Neil and Paul Gallant with Jessamyn McIntyre producing. Also Michael Bumpus will be a big part of the new morning show. The midday show, 12-3 will be announced today at 2:45pm. I'm not sure if Jake Heaps will be a part of it, as has been invited to training camp with the Seattle XFL Dragons, and is still trying to resurrect his football career.
