Bruce Collins out as WTVN / WYTS PD

Does anyone have a personal email address for Bruce Collins? I used to work for him in Nashville and would love to get in touch with him to wish him luck. I know there's a phone number, but I'd rather have an email address.

I can see JohnBoy right now, sitting on his stool at Morton's worrying about this... Or maybe he's just contemplating his next drink.

JB...are you still hanging out at Morton's? Do they still have their tiny prime rib sandwiches at happy hour? Gosh, I miss those...

Just google his name and his personal email address will appear.

WTVN also dropped their NOON news block during the Bruce Collins era.
Just how important is a one hour block of local new at NOON?
CC's WOAI-AM in San Antonio was doing a NOON News block for about 25 years
or so but that was dropped by CC about five years ago. Now another station,
KTSA-AM BMP Radio, is going to add a one hour block of news at NOON as of today.
BMP Radio is spending a lot of money in San Antonio these days.

Some of you have your time lines a bit off. Cannon was gone long before Collins arrived.

I wish Bruce the best. The shrinkage of WTVN local news and programming was executed by creepy people far above Bruce's head (and Crenshaw's). If you blame him, you are not well informed.

Occasional Bruce Collins would fill in Corby when he was out or on vacation.
He called his fill in show, "ASK THE PD". Mr. Collins told his listeners that he was the program director for WTVN and responsible for all it's programming .
He ask them to call in if they had any complaints, praise or criticisms of WTVN's
program lineup. Mr. Collins was a Big Corby supporter. When listeners called in
to say how much they hated Corby's show, Mr Collins response was, "Corby
owns Columbus". So from a listeners viewpoint, the buck stopped with Mr. Collins.

According to this story in the Columbus Dispatch, Steve Cannon was dismissed by Bruce Collins. Part of the Columbus Dispatch story is here:

Columbus Dispatch, The (OH)

WTVN, STEVE CANNON PART WAYS

(QUOTE)
WTVN (610 AM) has pulled the plug on longtime Columbus radio host Steve Cannon and his late-night talk show."It is with deep regret that I must inform you that Steve Cannon is no longer with 610 WTVN," Program Director Bruce Collins said in a memo this week to the staff. "I wish him nothing but the best and much success in his future endeavors." The decision was a surprise to listeners: Cannon was pulled in the middle of a ratings period and...

Has WTVM ever had Helicopter traffic reports in the past? They just have one mobile
unit out on the streets doing traffic reports these days.

WTVN used to have an airplane that Craig used to fly to do the traffic reports, but with fuel and insurance costs, plus the fact that none of the traffic aircrafts for any of the stations couldn't fly over I-270 around Port Columbus, they felt that he would be better on the ground. Now with all the traffic cameras around Columbus, Craig can see what is going on instantaneously around the whole city where before if he was on the south side, he couldn't see what was going on on the north side. I think his reports have gotten better over the years being on the ground.

Bruce Collins now that was a inept program director. Replaces 1230 AM only sucessful format progressive talk with a bunch of c listed conservitive talkers. The Spring 08 Ratings are out for Columbus and WVKO AM is beating WYTS AM in the ratings. Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz are beating Micheal Savage and Laura Ingram in C-Bus.

The latest rating out are for Sp'08 p2. The Spring 08 ratings will be out July 31?

It dose show WVKO-AM trending up a little and they should beat WYTS-AM in the Spring book if WVKO-AM continues to gain listeners.

It was announced on Thursday that acting Program Director Mike Elliott is now officially the Program Director for WTVN and WYTS. I haven't seen anything in the paper or in the trades yet.

He is listed on the WTVN-AM contact page: http://www.wtvn.com/pages/contact.html today.

Maybe something will be printed in tomorrow's C.D. since he was appointed during the
the start of the long July 4th weekend.

Thanks for the update.

Well it is most likely that WVKO AM will gain another .2 share. Then the staton will beat WRFD and tie WTDA FM.

Well it proves that Michael "Weiner" Savage doesn't have a audience in C-Bus.

Remember when you Quote trends they are not the same thing as a full rating book. the spring ratings which have a much larger sample may look very different for WVKO as well as all the other stations in town
