BRW: longtime WTKK newser Ed Cherubino let go

http://bostonradiowatch.com/

He'd been there when they flipped from smooth jazz to talk 10 yrs ago last month but Ed Cherubino has been let go from WTKK. Two other staffers (off air) were let go and BRW hears from insiders that Imus may be totally dropped
by years end.

Too bad, I always liked his voice and delivery. Not sure yet if I like the changes at WTKK.

Not only great on the air but behind-the-scenes as well. I'm sure he will be missed over there. Did not know he was held over from WSJZ though it seems like his voice would fit really well with that format.

That's really too bad!
He has a great voice & did a great job with the news breaks.
He'll be missed.Hopefully he'll find another station(s) to go to soon.
WTKK'S loss! :(

Ed did a good job, and everyone says he is a gentlemen...it's sad to see this kind of thing happen to good people.

I hope he finds something soon.

How in the *bleep* can you have a talk station that discusses current events without someone to factually tell you the current events? What's next for TKK? Spackle and paste commercials?

Who got the extra cash that cost Ed his job? Michael Graham's extra hour?

I heard her this morning, wasn't she let go from Metro News/Traffic, hence her no longer being on WODS in the morning? Wasn't she doing a weekend shift on WODS at one point?

But if she is on Greater Media's morning shift, where is Hank Morse?

Yes, Mauzy lost her Metro job last fall. She eventually left WODS as well where she had done the mid-afternoon Sunday slot (leading into Lost 45s). She moved to WROR earlier this year and currently has the 9am-noon Sunday shift on WROR. Since joining Greater Media, she had also been occasionally filling in for Hank on the WTKK morning updates.

Hank, assuming he is still there, still does morning news and/or traffic updates on both WROR and WKLB. He is still listed on their websites.

Last week, while briefly listening to WTKK/Severin while in the car one afternoon, they had a CNBC News update. Other than that, I've heard no news whatsoever during the few times I've listened to Jim and Margery's morning show.

WROR weekends

Via the WROR website, I've noticed a couple of weekend names are missing. One would be Kristin Lessard who, I thought, was doing Sat and/or Sun afternoons/evenings not that long ago. Her WROR email address is apparently still active on the left side of the Personalities page.

The other is Huggy who had the Sunday evening show. I've noticed that Jim and Margery, on WTKK, thank Huggy and Christian at the close of their morning shows so I assume it's the same Huggy (who also does TKK's Joe and Huggy show Sat mornings).

Looks like Mauzy is now 9-1 on Sundays (had been 9 to noon) and Paul Perry is 1 to 6. He had been doing something close to 3 to 7 just as he does on Saturdays.

Meanwhile, I've caught bits and pieces of Doyle and Devereaux in the afternoon and, to me, it sounds horrible: sounds like they are broadcasting inside a tin can, all very much set up, no spontaneity, nothing that brings out the best of the Julie Devereaux we all know and love and who should not have lost her job in the first place. Maybe I'm not listening enough or just at the wrong times but it's just not a great show.

I've also heard Mauzy do DJ dutySunday afternoons on WKLB (over the summer.)

For a gal who got laid off, she's sure working a lot....good for her!!

I liked Ed's news breaks. I used to actually learn about current events when I listened to WTKK. Now, honestly, the only person who really talks about actual news is...Severin. Ahhhhh!

Graham has become so icky since his divorce. Did Grace the 'hot program director' tell him to talk about sex more often or something? Yea, I don't really want to hear about Graham's sex life. Go back to talking about politics.

And the 'Jim Braude loves himself only, see, all the callers hate him!' shtick is getting OLD. and do they ever talk about real news? hardly.

boo to wtkk.

+1000, Julie didn't need Tom Doyle, she has done PM drive before, but as usual the suits at GM decided to bring in someone from out of market who they felt could do better, how'd that work out?

Julie is a great personality, and a great person. She has done every job Greater Media has ever asked her to do both at WBOS and at 105.7, and they keep bending her over after she gives them 110%.

Same for Kim Collins, who got let go all together from Greater Media, and although she landed at CBS/WZLX weekends I don't think she is still there since they had to absorb Angel Wood from WBCN, probably a union contract issue but I'm not sure

Hasn't it already been discussed that this show is voicetracked? It's the first 2 person voicetracked show that I know of, and I agree that it sounds quite awkward.
