ALL ACCESS has learned that CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES evening host BRYAN SUITS is exiting the station to move back to SEATTLE with his family. SUITS, who will continue his SUNDAY afternoon show on KFI from SEATTLE, will be replaced by weekender and former crosstown KLSX evening host TIM CONWAY JR., who takes over on JANUARY 18th.

Look for an announcement on SUITS' next radio home any day now.

What do we think? Mornings at KVI? Afternoons again at KVI? No room at KTTH with Beck, Rush, Medved and Boze. Unless he took the 6p-9p? My guess is KVI

Wow - this board has the story long before the blathering one. Amazing! :)

My money's on him doing something with 97.3 (not like Shiers is setting the world on fire or anything) or maybe replacing R&D. As for KVI, methinks he's worn out his welcome at the Palace.

I like Bryan Suits alot. I am praying that he'll go in the 3-7pm shift at 97.3.

I'm betting KVI mornings. Ingraham will probably shift to 9-NOON.

Now, hopefully, Levin will go live and replace the awful Dennis Miller in the afternoons (sorry, not a fan of Miller's show).

Suits, Ingraham, Hannity, and Levin. KVI would be back in the game

That would get me back to listening to 97.3 after 3 pm.
I have to tune somewhere else when R & D come on.

I'm just curious, what is it specifically you like about Suits?

I'll be honest I listened to his show in LA and it was pretty bad. I really gave it a shot.
It was only good when he had a sidekick. I think he's just okay, not super compelling.

I find it odd that you'd put this guy immediately into a prime slot. Is that because he was
there before and you know him or you think he is truly worth listening to? I noticed it said
he was returning to Seattle to spend time with his family. I may be incorrect but I don't think it was his choice. The release certainly makes it sound like it was this altruistic emotional choice to return home. I'm not bashing him, as a matter of fact I find his background (as a medic I believe)
very interesting. It's just that he was not even remotely successful in LA. Now that could be for a multitude of reasons, but he was on KFI for gosh sakes. That is an amazing station. Once again, I did not find him compelling at all. There were many times I wanted to tune out but stayed listening and I was just never that impressed.

So now that you all want him back on air in Seattle right away, I'm just asking why?
That's all.

Maybe this is one of those 'talent' issues. He is the best that is available in Seattle?
If that is the case, this all makes sense, but it is really sad. I will say this I think maybe Seattle is a better fit for him. Last time I was in the Jet city I listened to radio and I LOVED how local it
felt. If Suits can bring that local feel back, then I guess I have my answer.

As someone who works in the industry, it's often hard for me to feel the same as listeners do. When someone gets canned, I'm never shocked, hurt, surprised, etc. With that said, I was truly pissed off when Suits was let go at KVI. I was a P1. Reason being, he was interesting, funny, and open minded. He had a very nonchalant attitude about everything, which I happened to like. For talk, he was better than the alternatives we had here in Seattle at the time.

I'm just happy that it's a local talent coming back to Seattle and not another tape delayed syndicated show. In addition, it sounds a lot like this was Suits choice:

Tim Conway Jr. will replace Bryan Suits 7-10 p.m. weeknights on KFI/640 AM starting Monday, Jan. 18, the station announced Friday.
"Bryan came to us and said he wanted to move back home to Seattle where his family lives," said program director Robin Bertolucci. "Tim is a huge talent and we are very glad to have him on board in a larger capacity."

Suits joined KFI Jan. 17, 2008. He was later teamed with conservative talker Lisa Kennedy Montgomery, a former MTV host known as "Kennedy." She left the show last September to do "Music in the Morning" on 98.7 FM.

In a KFI staff e-mail Friday morning, Bertolucci wrote, "The good news is that Bryan will continue to host the "Dark Secret Place" on Sundays (2-4 p.m.) from his new home base and you will hear him filling in here and there on KFI.

"We are sorry to see Bryan go and wish him and his family all the very best. Bryan's last regular show will be Friday night, Jan. 15. Bryan has some exciting stuff brewing in Seattle but I'll let him share that with you when he can."

Thanks for your take on things. I agree bringing home local talent is
paramount for the future of great radio. It makes a difference.
I wish him all the best.

Interesting discussion. It's been a while since I listened to Bryan, but I remember that he served in the Gulf War and Bosnia (right?) and consequently had a thoughful but straighforward manner and was compelling to listen to. You know, we're still at war in Iraq and Afganistan (if I'm not mistaken don't we have about 100,000 troops over there?) and his knowledge of foreign affairs and friendly, intellegent discussion would fit in nicely over at KIRO, and add to making that station rightful Primary EAS station it deserves to be in the region. I think if there were an earthquake or other calamity we'd all be tuning into KOMO.

But I do wonder, and agree, that maybe he needs a sidekick.

I'm not sure what so many on this board have against Ron & Don. I have grown to really enjoy their afternoon show. They are fresh, funny, with just the right amount of irreverence without being over-the-top and they can be very serious too at times. I have found myself tearing up more than once with some of the touching moments on their show. Don's voice used to drive me crazy but their heart and humor has won out for me.

I don't know Bryan Suits but I'm happy to hear of local talent working live and local. Interesting that he worked with Kennedy... I've often said she is one of the talents formerly in the Seattle market that I miss the most. I'd love to have her back on a KIRO-type station. She was fantastic. Smart, well-spoken, irreverent, funny, a little unpredictable and very interesting to listen to.

FM Steve,

I think you hit the nail on the head. When Kennedy was on with him, the show was good. So I agree, hopefully KVI will give him a sidekick. Some people think a sidekick is them having to 'share' the air, others love having another personality to bounce things off and it usually makes for a better broadcast. I currently live in LA and down here we have Vin Scully (AWESOME!) as the LA Dodgers announcer and he does the broadcasts by himself. Can you name another sports guy that does it himself? I can't. It is really hard to pull off. I think some people are better with a sidekick and Suits is most likely one of them.

I do agree that for the next few years (under Obama and while we're at war) his background will really fit in well. One time he was talking about his experience over there and I was impressed. He was there, he knows what it is like and that's what we want to hear. The truth, not the political viewpoint. Especially since I don't believe or trust anyone in Washington DC anymore.

Brilliant! You could call it Bryan and Company. Or Suits and Company. Where are Carleen Johnson and Matt Haver when you need them?!

Carleen's still at KOMO and most likely Matt's still there too.

Can someone explain to me how a guy who couldn't produce ratings two years ago and was fired for not being a good fit, now is rehired to do mornings? Did he learn and improve over the past couple of years working amongst the talent in LA that he can boost the dismal landscape that KVI has become?
Only time will tell. At least for me, based on what I remember, it will help me sleep in later.

What they need to do is find somebody with the surname "Coates" to co-host. "Suits and Coates In The Morning....sponsored by Men's Wearhouse...on Talk Radio 570 KVI....."

Wow, Fisher blew out Kirby for that? a ratings bonanza it tell ya! yeah, i know it's all about the money......

Let's see... Kirby can't speak, but Suits can a little better. Kirby's ratings had been slipping as a lead in for Limbaugh since the loss of Limbaugh to the other right-wing talker. Wilbur was way overpaid for someone lacking any talent.. Suits is probably working for one fourth of what Wilbur was being paid. Seems pretty clear to me!

In the end though, it doesn't really matter who KVI sticks on that station. The reign of AM is winding down at an increasing rate with nobody listening under 55. That's the facts, no matter what your political leaning.

i heard that the only way suits would come back is that he has a "no contact" clause that the pd denis kelly has to abide by. that would be fun to watch at the xmas party....
