The county is 83,000 and Key West (city) is about 25,000 per the last Census. The lower keys up to and not including Marathon are about 38,000 (mostly in Stock Island, Big Coppitt Key, Cudjoe Key, Big Pine Key). What are the demographics of Key West as far as year-round residents
More than a dozen stations are licensed to Key West or immediately adjacent communities that we refer to as the Lower Keys. That's for less than 35,000 persons. It is very exciting to have a station in Key West. My wife and I have a house down there and we go there often. I have always wanted this station in particular, because it blows away the others in terms of audio and bigness.
It blows away the coverage of the other 50K stations that emulate from Marathon.
The station is ALL NEW in regards to equipment. Everything is top-notch. Nautel transmitter, killer processing, everything.
Key West also has no "Local" outlet to get today's news, weather, etc.
They depend on Miami TV, other stations that say I Heart, and no local daily news.
There is an LMA in place. That will be in place as far as I know until 2024. The renter is a passionate radio guy doing a format he loves.
I think this is a perfect addition to BIG WECK, and when they come up, I will purchase more.
For now, I am thrilled about WKEY. It's a magical place
Also, check out my podcast yesterday with Adam Jacobson at RBR.com for more information.
Presumably the unlicensed one is Radio Marti? (which I thought was 100kW).The county is 83,000 and Key West (city) is about 25,000 per the last Census. The lower keys up to and not including Marathon are about 38,000 (mostly in Stock Island, Big Coppitt Key, Cudjoe Key, Big Pine Key).
For those 83,000 people, there are 23 commercial radio stations and 6 non-com stations and one unlicensed 50 kw AM station.
.
By all accounts, running just 50 kw. But yes, I was referring to Martí.Presumably the unlicensed one is Radio Marti? (which I thought was 100kW).
your carpet smartKEY is a Class c2 I believe? It can operate at 26K watts but that would be a total waste because 1/2 of it would be reaching marlins and hogfish
It's really very perfect.
BTW, my business plan is to NOT sell spots......do you think I'm THAT dumb?
