Bull now on death watch

after another horrible spring book (only braves fans listening to games) the offical format switch clock is on
for bull, inside source says end of year flip, research now looking for format

will try christmas music again in november as the last and final attempt to find any ratings, another sad holiday for bull staff who will be let go.

two years later it is over.

Why'd they hire Kristen? Not sure I would trust someone with the screen name Part time Temp?

cc likes to hire talent that was with the better station in format, tampa, san diego, phoenix
gotta keep judd thinking he has people around him, in the end will move judd to another southern market that gets him

I expect the Cledus T Party to survive in syndication, probably still based in Atlanta. I've never listened to the show but I hear from members of their target demo that it is HILARIOUS. Atlanta ratings notwithstanding, the show makes for a perfect alternative to the John Boy & Billy BIG Show or Bob & Tom for small and medium markets. Cledus is from Cartersville, it's the perfect opportunity for him to remain in his home town, and no need to bust up the Atlanta-based team. They could end up syndicated to one of the Atlanta rimshots or even on The Legend.

Doubtfull

1) You do not do market research for a market switch in January of next year. Too many changes can happen between now and then, ESPECIALLY AS NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE ATLANTA RANKINGS WILL LOOK LIKE IN NOVEMBER ONCE WE SEE THE FIRST PPM RESULTS.

2) They blew up Christmas music before Christmas last time - so that also does not sound legit either.

While anyone can make wild predictions and yes, even a broken analog clock is correct twice a day, you are just speculating with no knowledge of any facts.

Speaking of BS....here's what I think-
Kabrich is right.....everyone is waiting for PPM. The first pre-currency is just a month or two away - no changes until we see the landscape post PPM.
Still hard to believe WUBL....especially the morning show, is not pulling better numbers. Where did the Y106 audience go? Even if they were 35+ they should have bumped someone, somewhere. I don't have access to the book - has anyone got the answer?
I wonder if BoyBob and his teddies are worried that a too successful Steve and Vicki will lure ClearChannel back to a "Peach" AC format for 94.9.....
How well has country performed in the Houston PPM -that's the only southern PPM market as of now - correct?

I'd like to hear 94.9 with a Martini style format. Sinatra, Buble, Dean and Sammy style music. You know the Vegas sound. Noboby is doing it and it would be the only game in town. MOYL Network is that style now and it's station list is growing especially with Jones Standards delivered format ending Sept. 30th,. and merged with the Dial Global standards which stink BTW. I did hear some station's in the Atlanta area are in talks with MOYL. 1160 am made a BIG mistake by letting MOYL go away and they should have brought it back instead of Dr. Laura. She's so over and the talk format they have is awful plus they buried Phil Hendrie in the late afternoon and for only two hours.

Just curious since you know a lot about the genre and I am skeptical it would work, can you point to any success with the formats? By success I mean decent ratings that will generate ad sales not number of station. Thanks

Until the light-weight waterboy in the corner office goes, nothing will happen at CC-ATL. Guess which corner?

I mentioned this on another thread: http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,104501.msg839124.html#msg839124

I could see this on one of those 50kW daytimer AMs we keep ragging on (WGUN, WPBS, WCFO, et al.) but not on FM.

The above format would be phenomenal. Great when you are having a cocktail or two. ;D

The above format would be a phenomenal failure of epic proportion if put on a signal like 94.9.

I disagree completely. I cannot tell you how many time's Ihear people in the 50's 60's 70's and yes even my 81 year old Mother saying they wish there was a station like this in Atlanta.
I am so damn sick of rap, hip hop, whatever Dave is, 94.1 sucks, 96.1 sucks, 97.1XXXX, 98.5 is a joke, 99.7, 100.5 ok.106.7 is the closest we have to antything good in this market.

No please do tell me I would love to know.

For any sales people who post on this board, let us know how excited and successful you would be selling the 60 year-old demo. It makes oldies seem hip.

So your 81 year old mother should determine what's on the radio? That's a high billing demo... yeah right?
I admit there are some really bad stations out there, but if they bill well, no one cares what you think.
I loved 99x and it got flushed down the toliet. Kudos to Cumulus they made some smart moves.
Do you think they cared what I thought? Well I did meet with them, but it didn't change anything.
Take my advice and go buy a Sirus/XM radio.

Well one thing's for sure: not many people are going to happen onto The Bull's regular programming thanks the the Braves for the rest of this quarter.
