Bulldogs Radio

Exactly how many other broadcasts has the Sportsnut heard to say that Wes Durham is one of the best in the country.

He is one of the best country bumbkin sounding announcers.

Not a pro sound. Hillbilly at best. Would be good at a small college like say Elon.

Quite the analysis of Wes, I guess that is why he one of the few broadcasters on radio in America to be the voice of a major conference collegiate program and the voice of an NFL franchise.
His delivery is polished, he lets his color man do the analyzing and his pipes are tremendous.
There are 32 NFL franchise broadcasters and he is one of them.

I agree. I have Sirius and listen to NFL radio all the time. I have heard nearly every NFL broadcast team in the country and I would prefer Durham to most of them. Yeah, he has a bit of a souther drawl. He's also doing PBP for the ATLANTA team. Ever heard the PBP guy for the Titans?

I'm a huge Wes Durham fan as well. I hope he continues to broadcast the Falcons games. Speaking of the Falcons, any idea where they will end up on the dial next year?

Wes TOTALLY gets it. He understands what he has to do to appeal to GT fans and Falcon fans (if there are any left). No need to bash that guy as he is a pro and a good guy. As far as Georgia, they need to get someone who doesn't sound like that guy from "King Of The Hill"....or better, yet...maybe they should!!!! THAT would be great and more of their fans (that never stepped near the campus for actual schooling) could understand the game better.

I not sure where the Falcons contract goes in 2008.
It remains a valuable property but Dave doesn't seem like the place.
As for the NFL Hillbilly broadcaster, change wouldn't be a bad thing.
I think Scott Howard and Eric are doing well. I love Larry and already miss him.

Falcons WILL be on 92.9 next season! It may not be Dave but the games will be on that frequency!

That is not what I am hearing

Let's just say that through various sales discussions I gather that the Falcons are looking to make some changes.
I think that you will see them make a change of associating with 750 or 680 as their AM partner.
680 has clearly eclipsed 790 as the dominant and most stabel sports talk option in town. They would be a better option for the promotion of the team week to week. I am just comparing the job that 680 does as a broadcast partner for the Thrashers compared to what 790 provides the Hawks.
Maybe the Dickeys use one of the Cumulus FM options as the game day broadcast home along with the 680 signal.
Then they have the bets of both worlds, an FM partner for better coverage and a 50,000 watt sports talker that would promote the product a lot better than 790.
I am not speaking with any inside knowledge from these stations, but just from buzz within the sales community and friends with the Falcons.

Scott Howard and Eric Z did a great job on away games. Here's hoping they get the gig when that time eventually comes!

Having been down that road with Auburn, continuity in the program is best.

As I predicted here once before in another thread, the Falcons will take the control of their broadcasts in house.
Word is that they will be on DAVE again, but the Falcons will sell and control the inventory. Wes Durham, whom I enjoy a lot will return as will Dave Archer. No word on Nicole Watson or any other personnel. One would certainly hope Jeff Van Note is a part of it as well.
Stay Tuned.
