BYE BYE I100 WJLQ..

Currently STUNTING on 100.7 out of Pensacola Friday @ 1:00 PM "the new 100.7 FM" and playing TV themes.

I hope they bring back the old Q 100.

-Rob

AFAIR Cumulus stunted with TV themes on WYOK 104.1 when they dropped All 80's STAR 104.

Doesn't Cumulus have a couple sports stations in ATL? Are they any good? Think Cumulus could be looking to put up a Mobile-Pensacola all sports station in time for football season? If so, what team would they pick up: Fla, FSU, AU, BAMA? I think FSU has been on Cumulus' WCOA for many years... I don't think we have any football (or any sports period) on the 100kw sticks in Mobile/Pensacola.

I just got to listen for a few while running errands. Sounds like they're playing some old TVT Records. "Batman" segs into "Knight Rider"...

Has Cumulus ever launched a News talk station? All the ones I know about were established before Cumulus bought the stations. And what quality shows would Clear Channel let Cumulus have for a 100kw news/talk station to compete with WBUV(FM) and WNTM(AM)... Unless WNTM on 96.1HD2 sets a precedent that will allow Cumulus to move WCOA to 100.7. I think something this big would have leaked out.

I'd be interested to know how talk radio shows divide up territory. Mobile and Pensacola are one TV market, but two radio markets. So if it were by market, then in theory a Pensacola station could carry the same programming as a Mobile station while both cover each market. But I don't think it works that way.

I'm not sure what sports are big in the area that aren't already on area stations. Again, I guess it depends on how they divide territory up.

As I mentioned over in the Alabama forum, this format is actually holding my interest more than any other station in the market(s). ;D

Since Cumulus holds stations in Mobile, maybe they're going to put WDLT or Gospel 900/660 on FM or maybe WRNE. ;)

The Facebook page is getting some action finally. Some people like the TV themes but by and large it's a complaint-fest. I can't believe i100 actually had passionate listeners!

Hehhh, you should see my posts on there. I'm going to reply to the person who said sports. (I don't think so.. they spent too much money on an IBOC system)

Don't you ruin this for me, Rob! :D j/k

I would love to hear wdlt on that signal. It would make sense since Magic 106 dominates P'cola. I also wouldn't mind sports on there either. Which means it's going to be neither of those. I guess we will find out 1pm cst Friday.

I took that picture of me and look like ASS maybe upon my first investigation, I'll have a better picture of me. Who's who on the FB?

I'm the only ROB in the FB page I think..

I replied to someone 100.7 WCOA-FM. (you never know)

I kinda forgot that we never get anything new around here. Since WRNE AM always held their own against Magic 106 and we know that WRNE is about to light up a new FM translator in Pensacola... this might hurt:

WDLT to 100.7
WGOK to 98.3
WCOA to 106.1
WRRX to 1370 and a new translator that we don't know about yet. Remember, Cumulus loves those translators up in Atlanta, why not here?
What happens to the Cumulus Mobile AMs? I don't think Cumulus cares about them anymore.

Since that made sense, I'm now going to guess Country or Sports for WJLQ's new format with no call letter changes.

Are we sure a full on flip is eminent? This could be the first time I've ever seen a station leave it's facebook and website intact during a transition and even semi promote it. The only other time I've seen this was when Top-40 Kiss FM in Dayton Ohio stunted briefly then simply re branded as Channel 945. Seems to me with the popularity of Top 40 right now they may want to stay in the format.. Albeit with a little tweaking and maybe a re-brand.

The only AMs I know they own in Mobile are 660 and 900, which are still simulcasting, I think.

Wishful thinking on my part would be after moving WGOK to FM to put oldies on the great 10 kW signal at 660 but that would never happen. It would mean putting a new format on the air and we all know Cumulus is too cheap to even flip a switch and put on True Oldies or something else canned.

Why 'stunt' on the air for so long (early Wednesday morning all the way to Friday afternoon) if you're simply going to christen your station with a new name?

Plus, Cumulus has pulled way too many format flips for this not to be a new station launch. IIRC, did the 'TV Tunes' thing on WYOK 104.1 before launching country "Kicks 104" a few years ago. And then, they did it again, shooing the country audience away for its current status as Jack FM. :D

I'll bet someone beer money they'll dig out 'The Storm' stunt again leading right up to the switch.

I'm very surprised they never waited till the yule season to play xmas music and than do the switch in Jan.. I'm going to guess news/sports as we are in SEPT

The new format will become "Journey 100", modeled after Cincinnati and Atlanta. Want proof that I am not lying? Go to
http://www.ascap.org/ace/search.cfm...&search_det=t,s,w,p,b,v&results_pp=10&start=1 and look at the ASCAP registration made by JAM Creative Productions. This website registers jingle packages and other items for jingle companies. Look at the call letter on this as well: WLJQ. In the lyrics at the bottom you see:

JOURNEY 100 JINGLE PACKAGE
TOTALLY 80S AND 90S
JOURNEY 100
JOURNEY 100 PENSACOLA

So at 1:00PM tomorrow, get ready for a musical "Journey".

I believe it.. I had a feeling we were going to reflect what ATL was doing..

No Football?
Cumulus sucks.
They haven't gotten one advertising dollar from me since before Hurricane Ivan.

That may explain why there's a journey100.com domain parked with Go Daddy.

Isn't this basically the same format as Jack-FM, only with a narrower playlist? I quit listening to Jack when the HD went off. The awful music they randomly shoehorn together doesn't help. If this is more of the same, then… sayonara.

This may also be proof that Cumulus is worse than Cheap Channel — 93.3 WWFF in Huntsville is also stunting and people have come across a few registered domains with the name "journey" in them for that station. The Journey format there will overlap with something like six FM stations & translators!

Zach, WWFF doesn't have translators anymore since they moved their transmitter to Drake Mountain in NW Huntsville and their COL to New Market.
