Bye Bye, Roxy

Seen as a complete failure - and down trending the last 4 books, WKNL "Roxy 100.9" switched formats to oldies (70's/80's) today at noon. The new K-Hits features songs from the 70's and 80's. This is the third format change for the frequency in 5 years, after abandoning the successful "Kool 100.9" 60's/70's format.

In 1977-78 I lived in New London, CT. while 100.9 FM was WTYD, a beautiful music station. Back then that format was very popular all over.

I would think they would keep the "Kool" intellectual property, now that 100.9 is going by a different name.

During the time the station was "Kool 101," they held over the studio phone number from the previous format - 447-8433... 8433 = TIDE. I couldn't tell you for sure if it was recycled during its "Roxy" days.
