The two South Central Knoxville stations got new calls this month..106.7 is WRJK and 95.7 got WQJK for their JACK Formats..Horne changed WEST 105 to WFIV..what's up with that?

They are trying to make sure they go back to a 0 in the Arbs.

Doesn't have anything to do with showing up in the arbs or not. They have decided they want to super-serve the tiny little town of Farragut...Hence We're Farragut's Independent Voice.... WFIV

If you're serious...who are they trying to impress...the FCC?
The average listener wouldn't have a clue that's what it means....

I'll help you out and you can figure it out for yourself.
Go to www.benmac.com and click on the article west 105.3 morths into WFIV.

Second-go to www.wfiv.com and check out the website since you think I was making this all up!

I didn't say you were making this up...I said if you are serious, it really is meaningless to the listener what your call letters stand for since most would not have a clue. Regardless, thanks for the heads up on the benmac.com website. Good to know there is another source for Knoxville radio news!

I went to www.benmac.com and read the story about how WFIV has changed and wanted to superserve "IT'S" community. The FM station is licensed to Loudon not Farragut..they need to start there.

WFIV needs to serve Loudon!

105.3 has always been licensed to Loudon. Basically Loudon has lost every station it's ever had. When i lived in Loudon Co. There was WLIL...WLIL got sold and moved to Maryville...there was then WLOD FM, it is now SportsAnimal99 and serves Knoxville....WLOD AM was all that was left...it sold and I don't know what happened with them. SO yes, Loudon needs local radio! Not some LOW POWER FM like the one on 96.1 or whatever it's on! They should pack up and move WFIV to Loudon!!! Just don't go freakin' country! Play something else..NO COUNTRY!!!

They say hindsight is 20/20, but I really wish the FCC had granted smaller communities radio stations (AM or FM)with just enough power to cover the county and absolutely no possibility of increasing the power..ever. Then this greediness wouldn't have taken place when the suits waved dollars in front of the small town owners. Of course, the law which allowed towers and studios to move should have never happened either. How can the FCC ever think it bettered the communities and to some degree free enterprize? In reality, this has been the Wal-Mart version of corporate radio taking over the small towns and killing the local business of good radio.

Re: WFIV needs to serve Loudon!

Horne owns those stations to. The FM in sweetwater goes by WLOD-FM and it might still be oldies. WLOD AM does the talk shows with the other Horne AM stations. WDEH AM is gospel, I think. WLIL is derving Loundon County and since the deal fell through on WKZX I don't understand why they don't just start simulcasting with the AM again.
