There was actually one consultant who I didn't mind when he arrived in Philadelphia, especially the first time around in 1981.

Can somebody say "97 Now"? ;D

yeah, ol' mike josephs did good with WCAU-FM "98 Now/Hot Hits", just like he did with WFIL "Famous 56" in '66. but he failed miserably '86 with the ill-fated WTRK "Electric 106."

Oh yeah, I forgot about WFIL in '66.

I believe he failed with Electric 106 because he was basically competing with himself. Even though by that time 'CAU-FM was no longer his client, they were still jingling between just about every song, into stop sets, and they were much stronger (ratings wise) than the competition was when they debuted in 1981.

Not to mention, those Electric jingles paled in comparison to the Fusion jingles played on 'CAU-FM! :D

IIRC, WTRK had a tighter rotation and smaller library than CAU-FM. By then, 98 was mixing in 12" versions and adding some recurrents/oldies. I believe this lasted only a mere year before they became the generic "FM106" prior to the launch of "Eagle 106".

BTW, anyone notice the "loop oof 15" is now GONE from from JJZ? Just heard No Doubt "Don't Speak" out of Daughtry's "Home". Seems like all we're waiting for at 9 is what they're gonna call this.

Just be honest.... "Mix 97.5". OH WAIT!

Tighter playlist indeed--and the insane idea of playing that same smaller library in exactly the same order as a countdown over and over and over and.....

Electric 106 did have a cool weather jingle/bed and some good personalities who made the jump to Eagle...some points in its favor.
