Callsign request for 101.9... WEMP?

Abridged version: Smooth jazz is no longer a viable format, thanks largely to PPM.

It's because PPM has been shown to reward cume and reach and NOT TSL, which has been the strength of smooth jazz

:) loved it when it was smooth Jazz!!! News? do we need any more? All I do is hear people killing children and animals. SUCKS!!!

I think demographics was more of an issue for the smooth jazz format. Its listeners were aging out of the prime 25-54 demo. It is still heard on KTWV in Los Angeles. As of today it is still on 101.9 HD2.

You obviously haven't heard KTWV lately--Jhani Kaye has cut back on the instrumental cuts and turned the station into something closer to the soft AC he did at KOST.

Crappy call letters. WEMP? Looks like "WIMP". In the PPM world call letters are pretty much just an hourly formality. Why even bother. And what the hell is 101.9 "FM NEW" It sounds stupid and makes no sense. If this is stunting, only radio geeks care about stunting.

Maybe not the best call letters, but the "empire" connection at least makes sense. And as you say, the station almost certainly won't be calling itself W-E-M-P but some other name, for which the calls are merely an hourly formality.

AMP Radio's calls in Los Angeles are KAMP, for what it's worth. "KAMP-y" calls, that's for sure. But no one really notices IMO.

But as we all know, CBS New York could care less about 92.3's calls or else it would have been WNOW.
