Take a look at the Houston radio ratings. Urban, Urban, Soft Rock, Pop, Christian, and Mexican. That's what's getting big numbers. Not rock. Houston is becoming a town of minorities. That's not good for a format that tagets young white men. When country is no longer in the Top 5, you know Houston's demo has changed.
I've said this on the NYC board with regards to WRXP: The problem with active rock is it's a sub genre of a sub genre. Just like alternative. What these subgenres need to do to get on the radio is to combine. That's what RXP was doing in its final days. The other trend is for active rockers to get airplay on CHR. Could KRBE play Disturbed? From what I can see on their playlist, they're playing country/rock acts like Jason Aldean and Zac Brown Band. Hmmm.
