Can We Stop Calling The 60s/70s/80s Format "Classic Hits"?

As Scott Shannon recently stated in R&R, 'Nobody in New York City considers WCBS to be a classic hits station'.

'Classic Hits' is simply an industry term, and nothing else.

You can certainly apply Shannon's remark to fans and listeners of KRTH, KQQL, KOOL, WOGL, KLUV....

I agree with Marv....the average K*LUV listener NEVER refers to our station as 'classic hits'. In fact, as much as we discourage it, they still tell me they 'K*LUV their oldies'...even when we sometimes play music from the 80's!
It's an industry term only, in the same way a listener to a Top 40 station would never call it a 'Rhythmic CHR', or such.......can you imagine??..(lol)...
