Can WTQR bounce back?

No it was the assumption that anyone who doesn't see things your way is overweight and unattractive. Not my case at all.

simply put the typical attack of someone with no leg to stand on. If you can't stick to the real facts of the case , or you can't face the truth, stay out of the kitchen.

I don't know "abcgirl", where she works or even if "she" is a she. But her posts don't deserve some of the responses here. I went back through the last five books and WPAW has been beating WTQR (Adults 25-54) since spring 2007. Simon has pretty much done the same with WMAG except for the Christmas move last fall. If the "alarms" didn't go off a year and a half ago, why would they now? The CC sellers were in denial because their manager at the time (one "Dick Harlow") was so over his head in two markets he didn't know what to do. So he and Morgan played a lot of poker and golf. To Morgan's credit he sent Dick packing to Raleigh (where he can now boast of his "success" with WRDU and WKSL) and brought the beleaugered Tex Mayer to the triad. Tex had no idea what he was walking into and was hired too late to save WTQR.

The Wolf is winning fair and square. I don't care about Entercom or Clear Channel, but Entercom is cleaning CC's lunch in very possible way and the blame goes straight to the top. And I think everyone here...including CC staff...knows it.

...and do you remember ALL THE ANGST ON THIS BOARD at the loss of the oldies format on 93.1? Looks like Entercom made ABSOLUTELY the RIGHT MOVE and they OWN TQR,

Still waiting on this new, miraculous morning show that will save TQR. Still waiting...

ok...now that all the cheerleading is done, let's remind ourselves of a simple truth- a .1 lead isn't "owning" anyone. Entercom is to be commended for a job well done. But if anyone seriously believes a .1 win (IF you can even call a .1 lead a win) in how many- 6, 7? books is "killing the beast"...that someone desperately needs a dose of reality.

Here's your realism: TQR is dead and they have no plans to warm up the body. She's gone. Better learn haow to say she's gone. You'd pay the devil to replace her.

WHAT WENT WRONG???

Here's what went wrong with WTQR:

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLLL... HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL....

CC Alumni thanks for the backup. I can assure you I am a "she" with years in this business and not because I don't know what the heck I am talking about either. It is there in the numbers. .1 in that market is a good showing and deserves props. If it were the other way around I would say that too. This is not a company thing, I don't work for either CC or Ent, but I do know what is going on in that and other markets. Facts are facts jack.

Facts are indeed facts. And fact is, a .1 is just a .1. That might be one incorrect entry in one diary. Or someone forgetting to make one entry in one diary. Now show me 3 or 4 books in a row where there is some REAL difference in the numbers (more than a .1) and you'll have something to crow about. How many years you or I have been in or around the business is irrelevant. Getting back to the original subject of this thread- can TQR bounce back? Without a doubt...if they choose to.

There is a big difference between a real time clock that counts in 1/100ths of a second and Arbitron. The .1 share in well within the statistical margin of error for Arbitron.

If Wolf takes abcgirl's attitude, their lead will be short lived!

well I just did an internet search on CC-Greensboro, Dick Broadcasting, Entercom Greensboro and Davidson Broadcasting (they did not show up) but there is a lot of information on line about all of the stations being discussed on this board. So if you are on the beach you can find a lot more info other than 12+ from R&R and All Access if you do a little internet searching.

I don't understand?? You did an Internet search for what?? Who didn't show up ??? For what? On the beach? You puzzle me with these statements!

My sources say Wolf has beaten TQR 3 of the last 5 books with adults. If that is true, I don't understand the denial here. It isn't just one book. It looks like a trend.

news flash....nobody cares about 12+.

since the dawn of radio no ad buy has ever been based on 12+ numbers........and a station like TQR for instance can look great 12+, but when you dig you see a huge percentage of 55+....If Arbitron could sell 12+ ratings results you wouldn't see them printed in trade magazines.

The 12+ ratings are free for all to view because they're worthless.

so a .1 12+ "victory" For the Wolf is meanlingless. The story is.....how do the stations compare in the money demos? 25-54, 18-49?

Arbitron states in the front of every ratings report, that the intended use for thier data is over long periods of time. So run a four or five book average on the two stations in the money demos and see what's what.

Now stayed tuned for the weather and sports next........

Have you heard the recent voice-overs on The Wolf that refer to "Eloise" being "madder than a wet hen" at them? The Wolf is definitely getting under WTQR's skin... stay tuned...

Saying that the PAW has won is laughable. They may be ahead at the present time, but the game isn't over until one station switches format. Until that time, anything can happen. As dumb as CC upper management has been, changes can be made, strategies can be put into place and today's darling can be tomorrow's has-been in the blink of an eye. Radio is all about change and the public is fickle - they love something new.

I would remind everyone who wants to CC fail that there are many warm bodies and deserving individuals who work there. You can look at the entity and be angry at IT, but not everyone there is arrogant or bad. They're human beings. I know many of those folks and they bleed just like everyone else. Sure, some of them may be guilty of having been arrogant when they were on top, but not all. They've been through some rough times and they have families to feed just like everyone else. If you saw arrogance from their sellers, and didn't like it, then be careful not to repeat what they did!

I'm not buying that ABC Girl doesn't have some connection to PAW. Maybe it's by marriage, or maybe she's with an agency now and used to work for one of the stations. There's way too much anger there not have a connection.

Don't know about the Walf getting under TQR's skin, but those folks are telling everyone who will listen that
"diary placement is to blame for TQR's current #8 ranking adults 25-54 (walf is #3).

Seems like if TQR is this monster station with heritage and big cume.....it wouldn't matter where the diraries were placed, they should be ok.

Don't really know why 93.1 is talking about eloise anyway......plus she hasn't been on the radio in months.

and how about this "new morning show" we keep hearing about? How much longer are they going to wait?

Word is....two show's have agreed and then backed out of the job. Wonder why?

As to the larger question about "bouncing back". The answer is yes , they could, but will they make the right moves to make that happen? Remains to be seen. The only bouncing they've done since the Walf signed on is bouncing down.
