It is relevant when we discuss waste and money spent on fluff. Elitism isn't a "fantasy", it really exists.
Listeners don’t see the furniture.
You’re letting your considerable biases blind you to reality.

I'm letting 40 years working in radio and memories of all the radio station lobbies I've seen open my eyes to some of the waste of CPR. Any bias I have is against using tax dollars to fund radio that otherwise could not fund itself.
I have heard the accusations and some of the verbal poop being thrown around. Until there is a trial and conviction, I'm not going to assume anyone is guilty of anything.
From the outside looking in, it just looks like more elites wasting money on worthless stuff. Then someone got caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
Before you jump on me for using the word "elites"- Look at the lobby at CPR and the lobby at my stations. If a wild chimpanzee busted into our lobby and broke everything there, we'd be out maybe a hundred bucks. Tops.

Did they redo the lobby? I don't see a picture of it on Google.Yep, KQED is pretty conservatively done. Capitol Public Radio is the opposite. Last time I was there (it's been a while), the first impression was rather extravagant compared to the commercial stations in town.

There's one above your post. It hasn't changed in 20 years.Did they redo the lobby? I don't see a picture of it on Google.
I meant the KQED lobby, I should have been clearer. I can tell the Capitol Public Radio lobby has gone to the dogs! There's one above your post. It hasn't changed in 20 years.
Yeah, but if you look at what you replied to, Paul says KQED's is "pretty conservatively done" and that his impression of CapRadio's lobby was that it was "rather extravagant."I meant the KQED lobby, I should have been clearer.

Yep. Nailed it. FYI- Our entire lobby would fit inside the CapRadio lobby about 8 times.

Okay, so physical size equals extravagance. Got it.
Oh, pah-leeeze. I never said that. Fake news.

You’ve admitted to your biases elsewhere. You just don’t like public radio. Your choice, but be honest about it.
I'm autistic, I'm hard-wired to always tell the truth (be honest). Always. What I do not like about public radio is that tax dollars fund some of it. I especially don't like the political bias of public broadcasting as a whole.
I'm clearly under attack here.(screen goes all wavy, harp music plays)

My point was fancy nose in the air outfitted lobby vs. plain and simple lobby.
