A friend of mine is a DJ for a country station in Springfield Illinois, and they actually run at an increased speed of 2.75%. They did listener tests between an equivalent sister station that ran at normal speed and themselves, and 87% of the people preferred my buddy's station because it sounded "more lively and clearer." The only difference between the two stations, was the speed increase on the one. Same sound settings, power levels, everything. Same thing with 97.9. They run an increased speed (I'd assume 2.0% at least.) Not many people catch it, you have to have an ear for notes and music to recognize what it is.
Yeah, love the juicy sound. Hate flat sounds (QFM, The Blitz, 103.9, etc ugh).
WEBN in Cinci got me into it but somehow they went back to the crap flat sound when they got their HD equipment.
OMW, I usually put my presets in order. eg: 92.3, 93.7, 95.5...
