I agree.. I usually hit 91.5 and then Seek when I want to go to WCOL-FM (which I do listen to from time to time, and I also listen to WCLT-FM) ...I should replace 107.1 actually with 107.9

Sean: Another WAKR listner is out there I see.

When I'm up that way, I often listen to the station. Reminds of when WTVN or WBNS back in the late 70's or early 80's. Really enjoy it.

When I'm traveling westward the two stations I always tune to around Dayton are your two "Listen Daily" picks. Both are great stations...and they aren't relegated to bad Columbus-style rimshot signals. Makes me jealous :(.

'MMX and Fly are both great stations. I believe Mix is 20,000 watts and Fly is 40,000. Dayton has several big sticks and is a smaller market, and Columbus is a bigger market with several small sticks. Makes no sense at all. ???

Yeah, while Columbus' storied inferiority complex is mostly unjustified, this is unfortunately one aspect where it's well-deserved. Although in this case, it's something few people would be aware of other than those who are in the industry or follow it, perhaps in addition to some listeners who moved here from elsewhere.

Where I live, I can usually get a good taste of a lot of markets, which is why I hate Columbus so much. I can hear other good stations out there!

That is one good thing about driving in that direction when I head to St. Marys to see family ... you can switch away from Columbus stations only a few miles west of 270 and never go back.

Haha yeah. I wonder how all the Lima stations would do if it weren't for the hills in Logan county. It seems like most stations up that way have a difficult time getting past the hills towards the east and it seems like all the Columbus ones have a hard time getting past it to the west. 102.1 comes in great, but that's mainly because they're 2 antennas are 1072 feet off the ground.

Yeah, the Bellefontaine ridge does a good job killing the weaker signals from both directions. The big Columbus stations do make it over nicely. Honestly I think if it weren't for the ridge, you could add 93.9 to 102.1 (do you get 93.9 up there anyway?) but that's about it. 92.1, 93.1 and 107.5 all have terrible signals that don't make it much past Findlay anyway, so no surprise you can't get any of them at Mad River Mountain.

I get 92.1 and 93.1 barely. I usually lose 92.3 between Bellefontaine and Indian lake. If not lose, it gets fuzzy. 95.5 is usually gone by then. 100.3 comes in surprisingly well for being an extra county away. 102.1 is one of my strongest signals, and 93.9 does come in decent. If I turn my radio antenna one direction, I'll get 107.5 out of Columbus, and turn it the other way to get 107.5 out of Lima. Where I'm located, I'm actually just North of the "ridge" if you draw a straight line to Lima. If I go any further south from here, I lose everything but 102.1. When I did electric work, I could hit 102.1 in London with a boombox quite well. Used to listen to it in New Cali as well. They're only rated at 11,000 watts but like I said they're almost 1100 feet tall. They actually announce at the top of the house "With 50,000 watts of broadcast power... you're listening to T102 and it's almost 3 o' clock (or whatever hour.) I assume the height+antennas makes 50k? Nonetheless, you don't hear too many stations around here announcing power levels anymore.

These are mostly what I have.
90.5
92.3 (great sound quality, compressed or reverb?)
93.7 (Mt Vernon, like 93.3 but with better sound like reverb or compression, though it is weak signal)
95.5
97.1 (what a waste of a big stick but I like sports talk, long live Oldies B97)
99.7
102.5
106.7

Hardly use FM though. I mostly listen to 610. The new 103.5/104.3 had potential but just suck now. I like 80s and disco but not together. I mostly hate 70s music.

AM
610
700
920
1270 (will be deleted because its yet ANOTHER spanish station now)

I'm almost certain that 92.3 runs a stereo expander. I use the same thing with my station. When you're within range, it sounds great. When the signal starts to weaken, you will notice the expander going in and out, almost sounds mono. That and they run an increased speed of 2.0-2.5%

A friend of mine is a DJ for a country station in Springfield Illinois, and they actually run at an increased speed of 2.75%. They did listener tests between an equivalent sister station that ran at normal speed and themselves, and 87% of the people preferred my buddy's station because it sounded "more lively and clearer." The only difference between the two stations, was the speed increase on the one. Same sound settings, power levels, everything. Same thing with 97.9. They run an increased speed (I'd assume 2.0% at least.) Not many people catch it, you have to have an ear for notes and music to recognize what it is.

I'm not gonna list mine, since I'm not in Columbus, but here's a question...how many of you divide up your presets like I do?

FM1 - 6 presets, all commercial - our local FM talker, and a hodgepodge of AC/Hot AC/Rock stations, mostly
FM2 - 6 presets, almost all non-comm - the two big NPR stations, the non-comm AAA, a couple of college/HS stations and the commercial AAA in the market that seems to fit here
AM - 6 presets, with all the big talk/news/talk and sports stations, mostly, along with our local oldies/news outlet that's been mentioned elsewhere in the thread :)

One odd thing I do is put my most used stations on button 1 and 6, the next most used on 3 and 5, and the ones I don't use much on 2 and 4.
