Sorry to hear that,but Lieberman has never been known to be a decent employer despite what OL De says. It will Flip again..then again.. and futher again. he doesn't know what he wants, and sure as hell can't get anything to work. It will be of the Spanish LANGUAGE in any shape or form.

Although I am sorry to hear about the loss of any gainful employment, can we please cool out on the CASA talk? The station blows and again, I go back to my theory of DOMINO taking on various avatars to keep this beatnik station in the postings. KDL was different, although for those of us who remember the Edge back in the day, thought "OOOK?!" PLEX is right. This station is doomed to become another spoke-in-the-wheel Hispanic station.

We can't reinvent the wheel, so lets add rims on this bad boy and see what we can do. Why doesn't people in this market pay attention to the NEEDS of all demos instead of the WANTS of the fat cats lounging in their offices?!

I've only posted responses on this board and very seldom at that. I took a job at 99.1 because Univision came to me with a long term plan to make La Kalle a solid player in the market. I loved all the people at Casa but like it's been said before, Liberman is tough to work for and I couldn't deal with that on a daily basis and still be focused on my gig.

Where did I say that? Of course, I did not say such a thing. For most, it is like having a daily root canal.

Liberman operates with among the higest margins in the business. He gets _everything_ he owns to work. But that is different from folks wanting to work for him.

And Liberman has a number of stations that are not in Spanish... including Dallas, Houston and LA. He does niche programming, but not all in Spanish. He launched Asian on 880 in Houston today, has had Vietnamese on 1480 in LA for 8 years or so.

You must have misread, or I was being sarcastic. I have said that he is very intelligent, has very profitable stations. But I did not say working there was "good."

Domino is a traitor pure and simple. If Domino had any respect he would have gone to another market for a time and then returned to La Kalle...it was about a paycheck and nothing else. Domino was bought...yes it was to legitimize the weaker 99.1 signal too. If Univision wants to make La Kalle a "Major Player" it will have to move to a cedar hill signal. Until then it won't get above a 1.5 to 2 share max...the same range that Casa is usually in.

If Casa flips it will prove they were not committed to a format and unique sound. It was only about the night show DJ.

Casa is by far the better station. They have more potential due to cross-over appeal to Blacks and Whites due to the Dominant English slant compared to La Kalle.

I am not exactly sure what you mean with you "move" comment. If they (or anyone) could move to Cedar Hill it would have already been done. Nobody wants to have their tower way out in Wise county (and the north end at that). If you meant for them to switch signals with another Univision station, that too is ridiculous. Univision only has one Cedar Hill signal, which is Recuerdo 94.1. Recuerdo is more mainstream and has better demographics for sales. They ain't swapping frequencies.

It's actually quite amazing that they are even getting what they are considering the signal's location.

Actually Liberman is not committed to a format, "unique sound", or any other "boutique" radio ideals. All they are interested in is making money. If he feels that he has extracted all of the revenue he can out of the current station's format, he will flip it tomorrow. There is no loyalty.

Do you know what Casa's slogan is? "Where Latinos Live". It is certainly not a "no color lines" station.

"Traitor" is a strong word. I am not a fan of Domino,but sheesh many radio personalities have gone to where the money is,especially in the last 15 years alone. He is not alone. Loyality is great,but in this quagmire of deregulation/consolidation, money is more corruptable and appealing.

Actually the brokered South Asian format on 880 in Houston was launched a few weeks ago. I first noticed and posted about it on March 6. The "Azucar" format the station had been running (after dropping brokered Vietnamese a few months ago) turned out to be just temporary filler.

If indeed people are going where the money is, there are several reasons....

1: It's tough to make a living these days, especially radio. :'(

2: Radio is a sleazy business today. Management wouldn't think twice of blowing out someone with a great attitude and loyalty or even just having a disagreement.

Domino is no traitor.

I say go for the money because from the way i see things there not much opportunity for the over 40 crowd in this bidness and Domino is very close to 40 or is already there.

I didn't get fired. Secondly, I did give a two week notice but Liberman told me to turn in my keys and leave. All I did was start earlier than anticipated. I had no guarantees from Liberman. The guarantees I got from Univision were much better, not to mention the fact I was getting a better time slot. Some people talk about Loyalty, but in radio there truly isn't any loyalty. You have a bad book , you get fired. You piss off the wrong fellow employee, you get fired. With that in mind, when you get a better offer, why not take advantage??? Now days it's all economics and politics. Real radio died years ago.
