CASA 106.7 to flip?!?!?

KPLEXCOMPLEX said:
Does it matter? Lieberman will change it all again in a matter of weeks. Its a station with no rudder of sense of direction.

Why do you say that? In LA, he has had the same format on 105.5 since February of 1995 (adding the two 94.1's later), the same one on 930 for 10 years and the same one on 96.7 for about 7 years. In Houston, the two FMs have the same two formats they signed on with under Liberman. Once he establishes a format, he sticks with it.

You Must be bored Davey. To answer your question, they ain't DFW.

The location is not the issue, it is the owner. Once Liberman locks in his formats, he seldom changes.

I don't buy that.

Well, the fact is that Liberman is very consistent in his formats in the markets he is established in, which are LA and Houston... simply because he knows that a format shift causes an interruption of the revenue stream. Only are his brokered stations "inconsistent" since they sell time to the highest offer.

Back to Domino...Why did the Casa Management ask for his keys? Domino demonstrated his lack of class by going directly to a competitor that is why. Domino should have had the class to go to another market for a time or to a station with another format. If I were Lieberman I would refuse to give him a good reference and would call him a traitor to any potential employers checking Domino out. Oh and yeah...Domino really cares about his former fellow DJs at Casa as he will try and put them out of work. Domino you don't care and have absolutely no class on your decision to go to La Kalle. Domino you should leave La Kalle and the market for a few years and apologize as you leave. I had always thought well of you Domino going back to your days at 106.1 KISSFM, but now I have lost all my respect...I will forgive you as will others inside and outside the radio biz if you do the right thing by admiting your lack of class and leave the market for a few years and come back once the shock of your initial betrayal goes away. If you were really friends with the people at Casa you wouldn't have done what you did.

Regretably what Domino did has been done countless times since radio started playing records. Many more will continue to do that, however since he was told to "turn in his keys " that constitutes he was fired. Plain and simple.

BTW LOCATION DOES MATTER, What works in one market doesn't mean success in another, especially if you view the over all landscape of the markets, not just a very few.

Ooh. a bad reference. That's certainly the kiss of death in radio, isn't it? ::)

Most potential employers are interested in one reference. That would be what Mr Arbitron thinks of them. And since he no longer works for Casa, why would potential employers be calling THEM for a reference now?

And as for leaving the market...If Casa was that worried about him doing that, why don't they enforce their non compete? Unless they don't HAVE a non-compete clause in his contract...Or don't have him under contract...

In which case, if they didn't have him locked up or locked out, they were gambling that they wouldn't lose him. And it looks like they lost that gamble.

Lose respect for him? I wouldn't know domino is he bit me on the ass, but he just GAINED respect from me. In this day and age, it's about looking out for number 1....and he made a decision that he thought was best for him.

Hey, it may not turn out. But I've got to respect someone to remebers that their prioritys and the owners prioritys don't always match up. And when push comes to shove, you've got to put your own prioritys above that of an owner. Especially in this day and age when owners come and go so often...

yes they did hire dj miracle from 97.9.
they are also dumping the reggaeton music and possibly the "where latinos live" slogan. they are going hip hop/rap & latino rap. something like power106 in los angeles.

I'm still trying to figure out how leaving one station and going to another in the same market is being a traitor or showing a lack of class. Demanding an apology from someone leaving a contentious workplace and finding employment elsewhere, while not necessarily classless, is kind of stupid.

Seems to me the real definition of traitor is as follows:

Let’s say you are a mathematics instructor for a school district, and you also work an occasional part-time shift with the district’s station.

Summer is about halfway over and the station has an opening for a full-time teaching position for the upcoming school year. So you apply and after all is said and done you get the position. The new school year is less than two weeks away and suddenly you decide you don't want this new position supposedly because you liked your prior math instructor job better. At least that’s your claim for quiting.

Wow!
