Cascada on Lite FM??

I wouldn't call "I Gotta Feeling" rap. The Black Eyed Peas are something else, the word I would label them I unfortunately can't type here... ;)

What about N'Sync? I don't listen to Lite-FM very much but some of their hits are (gasp) 10 years old now and certain ones like "Tearin' Up My Heart" could be considered rhythmic (mainly the music, not so much the singing) and some of the young people who listened to AC then are now in Lite's demographic. I know the Backstreet Boys have several slower songs that may get some play on Lite-FM but as a '90's child, I'd take N'Sync (or "Genie In A Bottle" for that matter) over Lady Gaga and the Black-eyed Peas any day.

Lite FM reflects NYC. I'm sure their research shows that some rhythmic is acceptable. Many 40 year old women LOVE lady Gaga. The other thing---CHR's are now in a period where the music coming out is acceptable to 35-54 females, the bread and butter demo for a station like Lite.

KOST and KEZ are great stations and are doing what's right for their markets.

Lite's ratings remain strong so what they're doing doesn't seem to gave a negative impact. The worst thing they could have done is just stayed the same and allow Fresh to get a foothold on the younger end of the demo.

Lite will have the variety position as long as 70s and 80s remain part of their mix.

It's 2010. Time marches on.

I'm not sure that dance is too new to AC. I've heard "listen to your heart", which is trance, a couple times on KESZ. I've also heard "I gotta feeling" by David Guetta ft Black Eyed Peas as well on KMXP.

Lite FM has gone way off the mark - it will show with a consistent rating decline. When a station is not consistent anymore, they should just change format!

I heard Crazy by Gnarls Barkley on 96.1 today. I don't know if it was WKJI from Long Island or WSRS from Worcester, Mass but both are AC stations. (Usually when I get something on 96.1 the station I get depends on which way the wind is blowing. And after Crazy ended they went into another song without back-selling the song or IDing the station). When that song came out it was all-over Hip-Hop HOT 93.7 in Hartford and CHR's KISS 95.7 in Hartford and KC 101.3 in New Haven.

"Crazy" was very successful at Alternative. It was one of those rare songs that made a big impact at nearly all English-language music formats. I personally don't think it sounds out-of-place on AC stations, but then again I'm not quite as much of a purist as some people on these boards. I'm definitely not in favor of the Black Eyed Peas or any trance song on Lite FM though.

Yesterday around 2 PM, I heard Lite play Don Henley's "The Heart of the Matter" and Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" back-to-back. Sounded a lot like "the old lite station" to me. Well, except that there was a very Rhythmic sounding top-of-the-hour ID jingle in between the two songs. And later that hour, they played Lady Gaga and Kings of Leon. Boy, is this station confused.
