Casey Kasem Marathon on KFRC

To the best of my knowledge, CASEY KASEM'S AT40 never was on KFRC when it was on THE BIG 610.

I assume you meant that American Top 40 was never on KFRC when it was on in the Bay Area, Madman?
That's what I meant. I was talking about the Syndicated AMERICAN TOP 40 WITH CASEY KASEM that debuted nationally in 1970. I don't recall KNEW carrying it but I remember when KYA-1260 carried it, I think in the late 1970's?

According to Pete Battistini's "AT40: The 70s" book, the show began on KNEW in 1971 and ran through '72. Then KYA picked it up in '75.

The book also says KSJO in San Jose had the show in 1974-75.

I moved to the Bay Area in '79 and clearly recall hearing AT40 on KYA (AM and FM) until 1981. From there, it moved around a bit:

1981 - early 1982: KCBS-FM (prior to it becoming KRQR)
1982 - 1984: K101
1984 - 1987: KITS
Not sure of anything post-'87.

I recall KITS running the show even though it had evolved into a full-blown alternative station. I think they buried the show at 6am on Sunday; perhaps just to run out a contract and fulfill the spot obligations?

Now that KFRC is leaving 106.9 ,I wonder if there HD 2 and stream will still carry Casey Kasem's AT 40 70's show on the weekends?

If they are under contract to carry the show for a certain period of time, my guess is that is quite possible that they WILL carry it for the remainder of the time left on the contract. Its either that, or keep paying the company that distributes the show without playing it....so CBS just loses money.

Very poorly thought out decision by the way. Talk radio on FM...NOPE tried that and it failed.. Now an extremely established AM News station on an FM?? What are these CBS folks in New York Thinking??? The error of their ways will soon enough be realized.
