While most stations in Canada air WHEEL followed by JEOPARDY, CJON/NTV does the opposite by airing JEOPARDY first. (And I prefer seeing JEOPARDY first.)

I think WWNY-TV 7 in Watertown also airs them in reverse, or at least they did a few years ago. If WWNY still does that it is likely to prevent CJOH from getting a simsub over them in Kingston.

At least two other US stations carry them in reverse (in ET and PT) -- WNEM in Saginaw and WFTV in Orlando. Though in these cases, I don;t know the reason why they carry them that way.

And something else occurred to me... If both shows are pre-empted for sports coverage, would some stations air the show earlier/later to allow the sports to go ahead? I know that in Newfoundland and the Maritimes, when CBC showed the Labour Day or Thanksgiving Classics (CFL Football, which will air pretty much exclusively on TSN starting in 2008), the Atlantic stations would air CORONATION STREET around 12:30 or 1:00 in the early afternoon and the rest of the country gets ironed out through the course of the day with all stations catching up with their eastern neighbours. There's still a loyal following of CORRIE fans here.

By the way, the one big concern apart from the 2008 Summer Olympics will be the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs (NHL), when CBC aired CORRIE on Sunday mornings only (5 shows in a block) until the playoffs ended and the nighttime broadcasts resumed. (They always do the Sunday morning repeats anyway.)

From what I understand, the American source has one main, and very strict rule for the Canadain Sim Sub, regardless of when programming airs, and that's that the CBC (or any Canadain station) is not allowed to air a program *before* it is aired on the American side.

That rule *might* have some exceptions though...not sure.

It might not apply for syndicated shows. For instance, Oprah airs at 2:30 PM on NTV, which is 1:00 Eastern. St. John's gets WCVB Boston on cable, which has Oprah at 4 PM Eastern (5:30 Newfoundland).

However, WLS-TV in Chicago, the home station for Oprah, airs at 9AM CT (11:30AM NT). A moot point, as WLS is not available in Canada, but it does prove that it airs in the US first.

For a year or two on ASN, WHEEL aired at 1:00 PM (Noon Eastern). (I do know it was the 2005-06 season.)

CFCN is airing L&O tonight (sunday) instead of the usual time NBC will later in the week.

I guess there are some exceptions, but generally speaking, the rule is that the Canadain station is not allowed to get ahead of the states...or so I thought...
