Okay maybe this is ignored because it's such a foreign idea but MY NAME IS ORLANDO! No need for the WiLDOut. Feels a little more normal to respond to my name instead of feeling as if i'm hiding.
Kudos on your success "MusicMan", I hope you have continued success. I have been treated well by this company and will defend against web idiocy. The fact of the matter is the economy is strongly to blame for where we are, but not just the medium. Churches, Homes, Shopping Malls and Schools have all joined radio in living well byond it's means. When radio properties were separate and competitive, they thrived off of excess. After dereg., the combos still lived in the "fabulosity" (stolen from Kimora Lee Simmons), of BIG radio. Huge staffs, Unneeded duplicity, yet numbers spoke to potential.
Although this approach strongly magnified the work of great programmers, like those of CBS, it hindered revenue. No one could see it - yet! As the economy has faltered, things have thinned out, to a natural number, but housed in digs to fit double. Walk thru Media General, CC, and others and you'll see that crickets are following you. Its hit everyone.
It's like people who have decided to attempt to make it over the bridge, with the gas light on, instead of "useless" spending. As someone who recently ran out of gas, for the 1st time in 37 years, I don't agree with that approach. Yet it's hard to tell someone what to do with their billions.
As far as Q105. Everyone was saddened about the changes, however the station sounds good! Mason's show is now focused on MORE Mason, which isn't a bad look. He's pretty popular, ya know?
