yeah. www.sunny1059.com does now exist. it has a dns thing there but i think that's the reality of the situation. the orock website says something about a new site as well. so sunny 1059 seems like it's in the future. sunday night or monday morning will tell all. probably monday morning is more like it.

and yeah i think big 810 will be in trouble if 1059 goes classic hits. i don't see how 810 could compete with 1059. 1059 has a way more powerfull signal. but i understand 810 was working on improving there signal? like i say, we have ourselves a great one here and we just have to keep tuned to here and cflradio and 105.9.

If their oldies includes 80s, will it push 105.1 to be 90s and 00s?

the "classic hits" genre is REEEEEAL strict on WHICH 80's it plays...for instance, some titles that were big in the "genre" years aren't
played...like, A Flock Of Seagulls...I Ran...huge hit in the early 80's...not on classic hits stations, because it doesn't sound right...i dont think Classic Hits and Mix will run into each other...if ANYTHING...id say under 50 titles that you'd hear on both stations...

as for 810...i want to believe this would be the end for them, but imho, the people who are listening to 810 are ones who were against the Cool to Big shift...810 plays the 50's stuff that you will just not hear on a Classic Hits Station...so maybe they can deliver to the (small) audience they already have, and stick around...i mean, it IS synd-network...its not like the upkeep is so high on that...

I say its either Country with www.us1059.com or Classic Hits with www.sunny1059.com. But with the pictures of Carrie and Brad on the website I was going with country. So now I have to edit my reply as I see CBS wants to mess with our minds which is good to make people not think what they are going to flip to. Country, Classic Hits, or Spanish. Seems CBS is getting smart as people kind of guessed that with other stations like Fresh.

Wouldn't be surprised if anyone involved is actively browsing this thread and/or laughing their asses off.

They won't be ready on Monday...it will be atleast a week or more before you hear the format. It will be classic hits and what they did was move the PD of Mix over to run both stations for now. The PD for Orock will stay and probably take Jeff Cushmans shift on Mix and do other things. Bobby Smith is a pretty versitaile radio guy and will adjust pretty well. Cushman is pretty much running the show and I hear he is looking for talent. They putting together their imaging and things like that...from what I hear it will be a duplicate of CBS in New York as far as format.

10-4 on that...ive heard all of those things...i guess our leads are correct!

sunny! sunny! sunny! sunny! sunny! sunny! sunny! sunny! sunny! sunny!

well if the last post was true, i could live with it. it would be a good station for this town. and ok i see where big 810 could fit it. there wouldn't be much competition between sunny and 810. if anything, sunny wouldn't have much competition. except maybe womx or wmmo but more of womx cuz wmmo leans more current as well. but still, wocl has an interesting course over the next weeks or so. keep your ears on this one folks, we're in for one hell of a ride.

Listen to the station now. What are they playing? Oldies / Classic Hits.

Why would they be playing this if they were to flip to something else? The person who showed us different images for the station proves that the image on the website is just to cause people to talk & spread the word. They don't even have to start advertising the upcoming station as much if everyone's already talking about it at the water cooler. Saves them money. Smart move for promotions.

So now there's a void for Alternative Rock in this market, correct? One companies loss is another's gain. Who will switch to Alternative, can it be done and does/will Orlando support this?

Radio and Records is reporting that they spoke with former morning host Drew Garabo, who said the entire on-air staff is out, including morning co-host Sexy Savannah, midday host Carter, afternoon host Scott Mangan, and night personality Mel Taylor.
No word yet on the status of PD Bobby Smith, but R&R has placed calls to the station.

Bobby Smith is still there, reportedly. Since he is the reason 105.9 tanked, anyone have a reason he's still there? Can a 30 something program an oldies station, when he didn't even know how to program an alternative station in his own era?

I do not think that this is likely, but after looking at a few images on the website, wouldn't it be really funny if this is just one big hoax!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just wondering guys, what are your final thoughts on O-rock, and the future of rock radio in Orlando in general?????

Here are my final thoughts on O-Rock....

The good= 1. A good format. I would've never become a fan of The Gorillaz if this station would not have been around. 2. The midday Jock was very good, and I enjoyed "The Nooner".. 3. Mel Taylor. She was pretty good, seemed very informed and had a good, friendly delivery...

The bad= 1. Drew Garabo, or Carabo, or whatever his name was. He was WAY too opinionated, which turns listeners off. Listening to the Sexy Sue or whatever her name was makes one think that ANYBODY can get a gig as a DJ.... After Howard Stern left, mornings at O-rock were pretty much a disaster of epic proportions...They should've hired a whole brand new crew in the morning instead of hiring left-overs from WTKS....The ratings probably would've been better.... 2. The Jody & Scott Show.....really bad, beyond bad, however Scott was alright by himself...

And for my thoughts on the future of Rock Radio in Orlando?????

Well, it needs a total makeover, because the world of WJRR makes you want to think that Metallica are better than the Beatles, Radiohead are a bad band, and that Korn are genuises......Gimme a break......O-rock could've been a lot better, just listen tonight to that metal show that comes on at midnight that is hosted by a group of teens on WJRR tonight and I bet that you will miss O-Rock.......
